There's no mango that won't grow in bengal and there's no mango people of bengal would prefer over himsagar. It is with a heavy heart people of bengal bid goodbye to himsagar after supply is over and then have langda... The smell of himsagar is even more addictive than its taste.

Alphonso and Kesar are overrated mangoes because of high cultivation in Maharashtra and Gujarat and marketing in Mumbai,Pune. UP and West Bengal gave many good mango varieties. Langra, Husnara, Gourjeet, Dasheri, Chaunsa, Rataul are from UP. Himagar, Fazli, Lakhan Bhog, Kohitoor are from West Bengal. Langra is famous in Pakistan, Bangladesh, UP, Bihar, West Bengal. Now many hybrid varieties are also available Amrapali, Mallika, Ambika etc. Goa has a very rare and unique variety of mango Mancurad.
