I think it is fair to say, what I love about Bangladeshi music is that it has so many layers which incorporates a lot of deep rooted village folk music alongside modern musical sounds so that it caters for the older generation of Bengali folks who are traditionalist and grew up listening to folk songs and for the younger generation of Bengali folks who enjoy modern music so that way just by virtue of this, it brings the two generations together. Coke Studio Bangla also invites and welcomes non Bangladeshis who simply love the language of music and are open minded such as yourself to appreciate the efforts of Coke Studio Bangla and their diverse use of amalgamating different musical sounds and concepts together. Description of the song and subtitles are available on this track. Thank you for your lovely reaction.

Two members of the Dewan family: Sagar Dewan and Arif Dewan. Their ancestor is the original composer of the song Ma Lo Ma Zhi Lo Zhi. The song Ma Lo Ma teaches us that life is a continuous journey. Growing up and nostalgia are inevitably two sides of the same coin. Acknowledging this inevitable change, the song proceeds like a conversation. Here life is represented by the analogy of a broken boat and the world is represented by a river. The addition of 'Chaad Petano Song' (it means, hit the Roof-top by rhythmic sound) adds depth to this song. This genre of folk music 'sari song' started during the Mughal period. An urban version of this song can be found among the Masons of the eighties and nineties. These workers, who migrated to the city for livelihood, used to sing such songs while making concrete roofs. The lyrics combined with the pounding rhythm of the song create a festive atmosphere during work while also banishing boredom. 'Ma Lo Ma' is not just a song. Audiences of all ages can relate to this song. The song reminds everyone of the beauty that lies in the journey of self-acceptance and growth.

The level of depth in these lyrics is incredible. You have to know about bengali culture, mythology, idioms, and other linguistic aspects of Bengali customs and culture to completely understand the lyrics and the song. Like all the nits and grits of the set design, costume design, etc. For example, you will see a man and a woman at 4:29 whose hands are tied to a rope set. This is a reference to the traditional art of puppeteering (PUTUL NACH) in Bangladesh, and assumingly this is being used as a reference to the lyrics where it is saying that it's difficult to be in youth. Though it seems lustful, one cannot escape the harsh reality similar to how a puppet is controlled only by the puppeteer. Another interesting reference is where the ladies in the background are singing about "what snake bit my Lakhinder". This is a reference to a lore in bengali culture where a man name Lokkhinder and Behula is extremely in love and at the night of their marriage lokkhinder gets bitten by a snake and consequently he dies. There is more to this story, not going into details, there so many small and delicate references mentioned in the lyrics that even an average Bangladeshi will need a critical review of the whole song to completely understand it. But it was a great and much appreciated video.

This is song written, in the Islamic premise, about life, how one comes into this world in an innocent state and then life happens once we grow up, getting carried away by the rat race of this world. But what really is going to help you in the afterlife life is good deeds that we do in this life. Again the premise is apparent and will make sense more when thought from an Islamic epistemological perspective.
@rahaman785 ай бұрын
By the way, you may be aware of this already that the two lead singers, Arif Dewan (with Violin) and Sagor Dewan (green dress) are brothers. The song originally was written by their grandfather. Unfortunately, translating the lyrics, takes a lot of the inner meanings away, as the lyrics is of folk culture/song genre. Hence, only native Bengla/Bengoli speakers would be able to make sense of the lyrics fully (current generation may struggle though :D). Nonetheless, the lyrics asks few life questions and Aly Hasan, the rapper answers those questions in a canny way.
