This is a song called "Xurde Wyn" by Asturian folk band: LLAN DE CUBEL, taken from their LP "Un Tiempu Meyor".

Wow. Y'know, I'm an American and I listen to Celtic music from all of the Celtic Nations. I am particularly fond of the music of Asturias and Galicia. To me, it sounds the most like the country music of the US, I'm not sure why. I can spot out any Asturian or Galician music group, just by that unique sound they tend to have. I can also tell an Asturian group apart from a Galician one quite easily. Despite being neighbors they have significant differences.

@@fueyo2229 It kind of is. All folk music from the region sounds like that. Flutes, bagpipes and violins were always in the region. See Martin Codax, etc. It's fair to say it has a Irish/Scottish influence, that's obvious. But to say that it is Irish or Scottish is a bit silly as even non-Celtic groups like La Musgana sound very similar at times. So seeing as the history of the region used those instruments prior and even the non-Celtic regions sound similar, it's fair to say it's just a slightly British inspired Asturian song. In fact Celtic music is what most of Europe used to sound like before newer styles were invented that took a long time to make it to Britain.

Os voy a contar una anecdota que me pasó con mi hijo y la estatua de nuestro rey Pelayo en la basílica de Covadonga.Pues bién,el guaje tenía sobre 3 añucos cuando lo llevé a conocer el real sitio.en un descuido mío se puso a los pies de la estatua mirando para arriba me gritó,papa no se le ven los cojonazos. Quiso el destino que en ese mismo momento pasaban por detrás de él el cura y dos guajes de la escolanía que empezaron a descojonarse de risa.Yo aparté al guaje de la estatua sintiendo como se me calentaba la cara por momentos,joder que apuro.Al final el cura que era un cachondo me dijo que no quería saber la historia pero que testiculazos le hubiera quedado mucho mejor al angelito jajajajaja.Como seguro que vosotros querréis saber la historia,ahi va....Enseñándole fotos de Pelayo unos dias antes, el guaje me preguntó.Papa si es un rey guerrero con espada,porque lleva falda ? Yo no supe que contestar y para abreviar le contesté que tenía unos cojonazos tan grandes que no podía poner pantalones jajajaja,llevando la consiguente colleja por parte de mi mujer.Todo lo demás ya lo sabéis,un saludos y Puxa Asturies.

podemos retorcer mucho la historia.... o adaptarla a los textos oficiales ... independiente de eso esta claro que en parte de la zona Norte (principalmente Galicia, Asturias , Norte de Leon y Cantabria), las tribus pre-romanas se defendieron (principalmente los Astures), primero de los romanos , luego de los visigodos, y despues del califato de Córdoba, despues del Reino de Castilla ... etc etc, de ahí su idioma propio( aunque a Asturias y parte de León no se lo quieran oficializar... incluso estando protegido en zonas de portugal como Miranda do douro ... incluso estando recomendada su protección por la Unesco), esa lengua forma parte de una cultura, una música,una forma de vestir y calzar tradicional, y unos oficios (campo, mar, mineria, siderurgia)que también forman parte de los orígenes de estas zonas. Igual que esta protegido el flamenco, u oficializado el Gallego, El idioma Asturiano (o Asturleones ), y el folclore de toda la zona norte, debería estar protegido.

El reino visigodo de Spania (Hispania), es más antiguo que el asturiano, y en esencia el reino de Asturias se hizo a imagen y semejanza de aquel, como resistencia al invasor moro, de hecho en el reino astur siguieron usando por varios siglos los códigos y leyes visigodas. Asturias es España, lo demás tierra conquistada, pero nunca se nos olvide que hubo un reino anterior que unió política y religiosamente a toda la península ibérica, el reino visigodo de Spania (Hispania, España), que sucumbió como sucumben todos los reinos, por intrigas internas y traiciones por ego. Hola. Me parece que la música asturiana (y en particular la de este magnífico grupo que es Llan de Cubel), celta, universal y tan preciosa, no necesita una muestra de nacionalismo (y de realismo) tan ridícula como la que se ve en los textos de presentación. Y que tampoco este nacionalismo precisa de desplegarse en inglés, lengua de los mejores enemigos del celtismo. Pero muchas gracias por presentar a Llan de Cubel, el mejor grupo asturiano, y uno de los mejores conjuntos del mundo celta.

It's different mate, our king Pelayo (year 721) was elected King by the people of Asturias, after he kicked the muslim "Omeyan Caliphate" out of Asturias and Spain (and he participated actively in the battle). Nothing against Arabic people but at the time they were invading our country and trying to impose their religion. Thanks for your comment.

Estamos hablando de un rey (Rex) de Europa, un rey CRISTIANO no un rey judio y David era un rey (gobernador) de Israel (Israel no es Europa), Asturias es el reino CRISTIANO mas antiguo de Europa y del mundo año 721, rey Pelayo I. Los salientes que son como pinchos hacia arriba que llevan los reyes Europeos en la corona son para imitar la corona de espinas que llevaba Jesús (Isa) "el Cristo" cuando fue crucificado, el primer rey que los llevó fue Pelayo I, rey de las Asturias. Vuelvo a repetir Reino Cristiano, quizás podría haber especificado esto mas claramente en el vídeo...

My dad was working for a spanish bank in The City (Banco de Santander), I still have a lot of friends there, most of them in Beckenham and Bromley.

@@maalaranha Nací en Blackheath, y a 16 años (1983) mi familia fueron a Andalucía y luego el Algarve. He tenido la suerte de conocer ambos regiones, pero hoy mucho me interese el norte de la peninsula ibérica, Asturias, Galicia y León. La mùsica folclórica de estes regiones es un tesoro mundial.
