Thanks for addressing those questions seriously. I have a question- How do you judge the value of a painting? Based on the skills required to paint or the resemblance to reality or the emotions it carry or the meaning behind it or anything else? Thanks.

If you paint to any standard and study paintings of those considered masters you quickly realise the man was an absolute genius. I have copied a few recently and can tell you that he had a wicked sense of humour with hidden images, faces, spider on hat, bite out of red pop-pom in beret of portrait. One painting can take me 60 hrs until i'm satisfied - great hobby and even greater respect.

Im sure if one is to retreat any of his works (like you obviously have) they gain more respect and a better understating of what a master he was - thanks for sharing!

If you arent adept at drawing or dont understand the difference between drawing and constructing forms that hingw more on illusions of reality as opposed to symbols of reality you will have a hard time with picasso. In general in his best works he draws to divide shapes into extraordinarily surprising but even compositions, his drawing movements are the same movements yoh would use to draw the human figure or like organic shapes. So even though its not very "realistic", his drawing style is very matured, and im not even going to take the time to talk about his cokor mixing skills and palette choices, master artist

anthony lopez I couldn’t agree with you more. The public’s issue with Picasso and other artists who don’t depict “reality” in what we think “reality” is are often criticized with the most hated line ever - “I or my kid could do that!”

The TRUTH is he's famous because his paintings look simple and like anyone can do them and the arrogant, wealthy and pompous so called art critics who buy art can't paint and they think they can relate to him and his work. Picasso is important because he mastered his craft and threw it all out to rebel against the status quo. He created new ways of true expression that flew in the face of traditional art.
@MaanoftheHour5 жыл бұрын
I definitely agree that Picasso reeled against the status quo in his art and many other aspects of his life.

Funny, you completely ignored Cezanne, the guy who turned Picasso's head around. Picasso said, "Cezanne was the grandfather of cubism".

Hello, thanks for the comment! Yeah, a lot of people take umbrage with how much Picasso is praised as an artists. But i really think that all artists are, to a degree, overrated.
@unsaturated84825 жыл бұрын
yeah sure. But believe me i've seen much worse artists who sell blank white paintings for millions.
@tblack97115 жыл бұрын
I used to think so too until I watched several documentaries about him and read a few books on him. He is important in art because he mastered his craft and did away with all the "rules" and created true self expression through various styles like cubism and others. Most of the paintings he's famous for are praised by wealthy people who just collected art but have little to no knowledge of how to paint or draw so blame them for over hyping the more simplistic pieces.
@MaanoftheHour5 жыл бұрын
@@tblack9711 I couldn't agree with you more. And I think this type of thinking applies to a lot of artists in any field. Their hype ends up taking away from what made them great in the first place.
