this is back story of the tiger dance performed in Tulunadu during Maha-navami aka maarnami Tiger dance is performed in coastal Karnataka because of a touching story. Many decades back in Tulunadu, a boy who could not walk was bedridden. His mother took him to the Mangaladevi temple and prayed to God, saying that if her son recovered and could walk again, she would dress him as a tiger and make him dance. Miraculously, her son recovered completely and was able to walk again. This heartfelt promise led to the tradition of the tiger dance, which is still performed across the coastal regions of Karnataka to this day. This is the beautiful story behind the tiger dance.

Very interesting trailer. Rustic ambience and the story seem to be like folklore horror genre. But only that I was taken aback by the picturisation of the boy sitting with either despair or fear with closeup of his eyes being drawn elsewhere or seemed to be withdrawn from the surroundings. I couldn’t forget such an image, of a deformed boy I met in the temple, who was in despair after being shunned by one of the devotees. After retaliating, with despair and still crying, he sat on the barricades just in front of the sanctum. Every devotee who wished to enter the sanctum, have to pass him, including me and I was both curious about the sanctum and felt sorry for the boy who was distraught and he did not wish to see anyone face to face as he sat on the edges of the barricade as every one passed him at close distance. Being a foreigner, I dared not oppose or confront anything which took place as a conflict, but I regret not doing something like the village elderly woman comforting the distraught boy. The gaze of the boy was exactly like the gaze portrayed by the child talent. And I wouldn’t even know what sort of mentality the deformed boy was during that period of time. The same way picturised with the suspense intact has made me very intrigued with this movie trailer.

i liked the way the trailer was shown or edited.. instead of showing some random scenes from the movie, they have shown us part of one whole scene where you can feel the intensity.. Commendable job done here... seems to be promising movie..

Again,this is not kantara. This is based on pilinalike which is tiger dance and has nothing to do with kantara. Just because it's based on a jungle in the trailer doesn't mean you understood the whole movie. I do recommend you watching it though, because it's about another one of our traditions. South canara is known for kambala, yakshagana, bhoota kola, nagaradhana for many things and this is one of them.
