It's not uncommon for gangs or other criminal entities to have inside people giving them intelligence. There have been cases where they'll actually mentor someone into the police department as an inside employee or even police officer. They keep them out of trouble. Keep them in school and finance them. I wouldn't doubt this Mayor wasn't connected and or wanted access to any information they may have on her or her political opponents.

Just a little before my retirement from a small town police department I was desk officer and police clerk. Once this squirrely mayor we had brought the city council packets for our department to deliver to the members of the council. I buzzed him in and he dropped off the packets. I got busy and forgot to notice if he had left. I learned later he had nosed around the department even entering the chief investigator's office. After checking the video the chief investigator watched as the mayor picked up several reports from his desk and studied them. It turns out one of the reports concerned one of the mayor's major supporters who was under investigation for criminal activity. Some time later the mayor returned and at the window and demanded I give him our passcode. I refused and he tried bullying me stating he was my boss. I advised him the chief was my boss. Not the mayor. Then he tried threatening my job. I leaned back in my chair and chuckled then said: "I could retire since I am old enough." He stormed out of our lobby. Needless to say I called our chief and told him about the incident. We all had a good laugh at the mayor. What a twit. He was handily defeated by a landslide at the next mayoral election. He was so embarrassed he moved out of state. LOL

Well, the crime rate just went up a whole 10% thanks to the mayor. I hope she feels proud of herself because now the people that put her in office she just put them in danger. With no police and the county you can’t rely on county because you don’t have a local sheriff. I’ve been to the city and this isn’t a little town, but it’s not a big town either. This area has some ghetto to it. And that’s probably where the mayor lives because this is such a hood move.
