Funny you should mention the Colour Classic, I remember my (much older) cousin having one when I was a kid. To be honest I was more interested in his Atari 2600 😉 Some great technical and historical detail in this one, top job! I always appreciate a good discharge too. Looking forward to seeing how this one comes together once you've studied those schematics. I'd try to offer advice but I know you hang around with those UKVAC guys and they're far more qualified to deal with vertical collapse than I am!

I must admit Adrian Black had inspired me to work on the mac after his 6 classic mac repair-a-thon! I have some pointers as to what could be going on. Its either so hot-running passives or a driving IC (74 series) that could be the culprit

In Primary school our year 6 teacher went away for a week promising to us that on his return he'd bring back a present for us. When he returned he was carrying some large oblong zipped bag. Large zipped bag contained a Mac Classic. Later my mate at the time - whose dad was a teacher in a secondary school - had a Mac Colour Classic. We spent ages doing nothing more than shouting obscenities into the microphone for a laugh or drawing background patterns.
