Then played every game that season afterwards with his jaw wired shut. Since that day I’ve respected that man as much as anyone that’s ever played in the NFL. Every ankle injury I've had has always been on my left. The first few sprains hurt more the next day or two than when they actually happened for some reason. The last one (#4) hurt pretty bad immediately but I could put a little bit of weight on it so I figured it's just a really bad sprain. The next day it was way more pain than id felt before from a sprained ankle but I figured whatever. Well it kept getting more and more painful and the swelling was getting pretty bad so on day 9 my fiance finally convinced me to go to the hospital. I should also mention that I had been unable to put ANY weight on it at all starting on day 2. Turns out I had a grade 3 (complete) ATFL tear and a grade 2 (partial) CFL tear.. Long story short, I ended up needing reconstructive surgery and it was just over a year until it started to feel close to normal even with regular physical therapy. I'd say maybe around the 18month mark is when I stopped "feeling it". It's been 5 years and I still get anxiety everytime I exercise. Overall, I would not recommend this experience to others, idk what id do if it happened again.

I worked for a big medical group in pittsburgh for 5 years. One day I remember seeing a huge amount of euflexa shots come in. When I asked my attending why we had so many, he said "how do you think the guys accross the river get thru the season?" He was talking about he 20-30 year olds with the steelers.
