@@cureholder , as smarmy as Dan Fielding was... he wasn't wrong on that. Also, Mr. Shibata is portrayed by Keye Luke (I may have misspelled that), a fantastic actor who lived a very long life and worked on multiple projects, including the classic show *_Kung Fu_* .

Very true. The best sitcoms are funny decades after they aired. Shows like this, Green Acres, Barney Miller, The Golden Girls, Andy Griffith Show, Married with Children, Cheers, Hogan's Heroes, Frasier, Sanford and Son, Fresh Prince of Bel Air and All In The Family just don't age or date. They're still on tv every day somewhere or here online or streaming. Good comedies are so rare now we really appreciate these gems.

I grew up with this, Cheers, Mr. Bean (in Canada), Cosby, different strokes, Family Ties, golden girls, then Seinfeld etc.. It was light hearted but wickedly funny as you can see from this clip. Dan Fielding was my favourite on Night Court. And for those born after 2001 trade centre attacks, I can say that life was not as serious as it is today. Those sit coms represented the general sense of positive feelings that was interrupted on 9-11. But before that, things were different, we were able to party a lot more, think of a 1970's movie group party, police were a lot more forgiving, drugs were used but they never killed anyone, pressure in school was less. Watching these clips reminds me of how carefree we all were, just looking for a laugh.

"Drugs didn't kill people"? Of course they did. You simply chose to ignore that sad reality. I knew this fact as a grade schooler after a group of college researchers did a presentation in my school using lab rats. They demonstrated, quite starkly, what happens to someone using drugs like heroin, acid, cocaine and other drugs. And this was during the '60's.

The gentleman is Keye Luke, best known for playing Master Po on the Kung Fu TV series. In Gremlins he was Mr. Wing. Also on Night Court besides Mr Shibata he also played Grandpa Ho, Quon Le's Vietnamese grandfather
