MacBook 12" Retina Battery Replacement

Instructional video and guide on how to replace the battery in your 12" Macbook. This applies to the models 2015, 2016 and 2017, and also the 2017's sold in 2018 and 2019.
Tools you need:
a replacement battery, obviously :)
a P5 Pentalobe screwdriver
a T5 Torx Screwdriver
a Tri-point Y00 Screwdriver (recommended but I did it without)
alcohol to remove adhesive from old battery

I removed the 8 screws on the back, the trackpad cable and then the three lower screws on the logic board. That’s it. Many less steps than the ifixit guide. Got the battery out, cleaned it up and put the new one in. Took 45mins and I am a first timer. Machine runs better now even when plugged it. Heats up less too. A lot of unnecessary steps in this video. Their guide lead you astray

I know…many vids showing complete rip of all parts. Seems like the new battery just needs to be slide under the main board and screwed back on.

Hi. Completed the replacement without removing the logic board and all seems well, but although the battery info shows '1 cycle' it still says 'service recommended'. Is there a way to reset this? (aftermarket battery)

Plug it in works with bad battery as long as it stays plugged

@@qasqdk update: i was able to fix it, turns out when I rewired the USB c cable to the motherboard is wasn't aligned correctly so I removed the screws and placed it in it's correct position. thank you for your response.

I got the same battery, not sure if its website getting more javascript heavy, or these chinese batteries just arent as good as the official ones. I get like 3 hours watching youtube at 480p lol

@@markin_ in my case, it was just a problem that I didn't close the connector on the sound module. After clicking, everything works🙂

Looks looked a lot of unnecessary steps. Like removing the case and the logic board.
