Thanks for making this video! I was told at the computer shop that repair would cost $150. I prayed and asked God to help me find a better solution. The thought came to look on KZbin and I found your video! All I had to do was press the connector in more firmly. God really is a loving Father who wants to help us even in little things. Thanks! I was going crazy. I changed the battery earlier, dust up the inside of the Mac a bit. I guess I accidentally unplugged the sound. Now it works! So happy.

Rick, a huge thanks for this mac saver little film. My mac air lost the sound the other week, took it in to be reapired at local mac shop. It was fixed, but the guy was a little sheepish on exactly what he'd done to fix it. Usual couple of hours fee £100 quid. Happy to have it back. Went again yesterday, was weighing up was it worth replacing it? The usual heart over head, good money after bad. Did the usual sofware dances, pram zapped etc. Then the epiphany!. I saw your solution. One of the connectors was a little loose. Little pressure and a sudden satisfying click. Immediate thoughts of 'I've broke that'. Rebooted with bottom plate off. Apple bong Huzzah! that man. Cheers you. At least twenty of the saved repair money is yours in beers should ever our paths cross. Ta you.

i litterally love you so much. In a real way ahaha. Today woke up, took my air 2015 and i fell it down because was a bit sleepy. From a 30-40cm of distance from floor but fell down!!! nothing on the chassis but i figured out it turned it off :( restart and no audio, no audio device!! reset pram smc and everything could be i was at last "ok something broke down"...then i saw this video, opened the air, refix the cable and tadaaaaa working again!!!!!!!!!!

Believe me you are an angel. My macbook air 13", 2017's bluetooth is not working since months, all of a sudden it stopped, I tried a lot but nothing worked. Anyway, I started using wired handsfree. But two days ago, they stopped too. An error message kept appearing: "No output sound device found." I tried every software solution available and even consulted local service shops, who quoted a hefty bill just by hearing the issue over the phone. I was extremely distressed. Then I watched your video. Upon opening my MacBook, I discovered that the wire for the speaker had come loose. Once I reconnected it, the sound started working again. Now, both the macbook's built in speakers and the wired hands-free are working great. However, still the Bluetooth doesn't turn on. Ostensibly, the button for it appears to be on, but even after pressing the "turn Bluetooth on" button underneath, nothing changes. Do you happen to have a solution for this issue as well? In the end thank you so very much. You are a SAVIOUR!

Hey rick, so I have an early 2015 macbook air and one day I found that my headphones nor the speakers were working and when i tried adjusting the volume it was greyed out with a cross symbol. After so many tries of contacting apple support, they concluded that it was a hardware issue and i should get it checked up by a technician. I have since only used bluetooth for sound on this mac because I was not really bothered in the issue, but I would like your input because I feel like this is what my mac is experiencing as well. Also, it is pretty weird since when macs do the nvram and pram reset, they normally produce a chime, but mine however just flashes the screen white forever until i let go of the pram keys, not sure if this is what you experience as well with the faulty components. If you were in my shoes would you bring it to apple to repair, considering it is basically whats in this video?

I don't believe apple would help you with this repair, I would contact a third party apple board repair (repair shop that board level repair on apple laptops)

Hi Rick, I tried this and all the other recommendations I have found to try and get my audio devices back, but to no avail. I suspect the actual audio hardware is damaged because it was dropped and the body is dented right near the headphone jack. Is it difficult or costly to replace the audio hardware on the A1466? I would appreciate your thoughts and thanks in advance.
