MacBook Air A1466(Early 2015) Self Battery Replacement

Battery Replacement Required was the message which used to show up in the battery icon. The macbook used to be on power only via the charger and sometimes even while on power it blacked out. So purchased a battery via amazon: amzn.to/30LW5dX
So this video is regarding the battery replacement video.
If given in a service centre it would have costed me total of around Rs.14000 roughly but here it took me just Rs.4000. However the battery capacity is less as compared to the original battery but the usage time is sufficient at around 4/5 hours of heavy editing and uploading the video. (30% charge being still left).

Average I would say. The laptop goes off suddenly when out of charger. Also it becomes dead when the macbook shows 20% battery left. So it can sustain for sometime without the charger but ultimately you do need to carry it if you're moving out.

battery backup is little less compared to original (say 3hrs of SOT)but the main thing is that it's still working fine and my risk was worth it 😅

Bright Civil Engineering Line the battery which I purchased is giving me a decent SOT. But it's always preferable to go for original product if you don't have price constraints. I had a talk with the apple service centre and they had told me the battery replacement would cost me around 12/14k inr. Since the one i ordered was 1/3rd the price and was matching my needs, hence I went for the same. So it's upto your needs and budget. :)

I didn't notice any massive difference in the performance. But yeah the battery life has come down drastically. The battery discharges very quickly as compared to the previous one. Like if the battery percentage is around 47% virtually, in actuality its 0%. So not a completely satisfied replacement but yeah it does the job for the price incurred. Basic Browsing and video watching would be fine.

Hi Aditya, I have MacBook air 2013 and I am planning to change my battery because when it is not charging it becomes much slower and it was not usable and when it is connected to power cable it performs like as new... I have formatted many times but it stills remains the same... So di I need to Change my Battery??

Actually the thing is, when gadgets become old they lose their processing power gradually. While staying connected to power, the machine tries to push its limit to the maximum. I don't think replacing the battery would help in that case (i'm saying this with my past experience when using a mobile phone). But since you're saying that it performs like new on power then it MIGHT be the case of the battery but not sure. Additionally you may try to chat with an apple executive through the apple website for the exact remedy or may give the laptop to an authorised apple service center for inspection.

If you wanna buy the original battery for your macbook then i would recommend you to buy from the official apple retail store but do remember it would be a bit expensive.

I would recommend you to replace your battery now as I had faced the same thing. Also I would suggest you not to put your mac on sleep mode just by putting your flap down... it indirectly harms the battery. Shut it down whenever possible.

In which Apple service center they quoted you 14K for battery? Here where I live they estimated the battery replacement around 20-25k :(

Sorry to hear that. That's the main problem with apple service centres in India. There is no proper transparency on the services they provide. Btw here in Kolkata, I had a talk to one of the apple representatives. So he gave me the estimate of around 14k at that time.

Actually due to this whole covid thing all those cheap batteries are out of stock for a long time due to absence of production. Considering third party companies for battery is always a game as we can't be sure of its performance or warranty. So its a challenge. Though I searched for Lapgadgets and found out that it's a decent Guj based company, We still cannot be 100% sure whether it will work perfectly or not. So considering the risk element you may go for it.
