I have to open the Disk Utility and wait for some minutes for it to recognize and to start using it. Do you know why this happens?

Sorry for the late reply, that adapter came with a Google Pixel phone more than 5 years ago. If you want a similar one you can check Amazon for some reputable brands such as Anker. Apple is also selling one.

hi, i have a problem maybe you can help me. why when I plug my external SSD directly into the Macbook port (typec to type c) it is not read even though I have changed the format to exFAT. however, when I plug it in through my SSD hub dongle it reads immediately. is the port on my macbook the problem or on my ssd?

You need access to a Windows computer for this... use that to access your drive and backup all the files either onto your desktop, the cloud, or another drive. Then format the drive to ExFAT on the windows machine (if you want to keep the drive interchangeable between mac os and windows) or connect the drive to your mac and format it as APFS (this will now make your drive accessible and compatible with mac os only)! When you reformat your drive, it will delete and wipe all of the files you previously had on there, that's why it's crucial you back the files somewhere first!

If it's a brand new drive, and you have no files on it, then you can just format it directly on your mac to either APFS or ExFAT depending on your use case mentioned in my previous comment

i installed os sonoma on external ssd but it doesn not work on macbook pro 2020 m1 does not start by any method. the disc does show up but when i click open it doesnt , what to do? even i changed the security setting but it doesnt work

macbook m2 ventura, always suffer disconnection with usb C ssd or hdd, any format, or even didnt detect the ssd or hdd, I have to use a usb hub or multiport usbc adapter!

Hey i have a M1 MBP, i use an external drive and its plagued with constant disconnects just like many others out there. Does the M2 also have the disconnect problem?

I'm not sure if it's due to insufficient power, but I'm facing a similar problem with my macbook that has an M2 chip.

@@PedroSilv4 I fixed this by getting a thunderbolt enclosure rather than a usbc one. Once i did the switch i never had the issue again. Im using the Sabrent one
