Thanks for this video. Very informative. But I work off adobe premier pro. And I shoot long meetings with my canon 90d and Sony fs7. I use multi cam in adobe. You think the base model is the best choice
@MinimalNerd3 жыл бұрын
Yes the base model M1 Pro is more than enough in your case ( it has H.264 and H.265 hardware decoding on the chip ) so you will have snappy editing workflow.

@@MinimalNerd one last question. I also use after effect. You think that’s still good .
@MinimalNerd3 жыл бұрын
Yes also for after effects, I would only add more memory, 32GB would be perfect for many years to come if you use After Effects with other Adobe apps open at the same time ( Premiere, Photoshop ..)

Hey hey. I work on a PC: i7 8700K, 32GB DDR4, GTX 1070 and a couple of NVME ssds. I'm a photographer so most of the time I work in Ps+Lr but I also film from time to time some videos(interviews, making offs, short fashion clips) with my BMPCC 6K Pro(6K BRAW and prores 4K). I was wondering if a M1 Pro 10-16core 16GB ram would work fine for what I need? Thanks.

Hi Adrian, yes the M1 Pro 10-16 is more than enough for your needs. I would invest in more ram to future proof ( 32gb ) but it's not really necessary.

Thanks very informative and well structured video! Question I have not seen well answered anywhere. What are the configs that you can hookup 3 external monitors to? Running at min 4k 60Hz. I saw it mentioned that the M1 Pro only supports 2? Is that a hard cap like 1 external on the M1 laptops? Or could you do 2 on the TB3 ports or even via same TB3 dock and then a 3rd via the HDMI port? With the M1 Max you can hookup 4 monitors (incl the HDMI) so that obviously works, but trying to figure out if I can connect 3x32” monitors somehow also to the M1 Pro, without using serial feed and software like shown with M1 laptops, when they showed using more than 1. Use case is for SW dev btw.

Thanks 😊 really appreciate it ! As for your question : officially the M1 Pro chip supports up to two external displays with up to 6K resolution at 60Hz But after testing unfortunately a lot have reported that It's limited to 2 Displays no matter the resolution ( hard cap ) or the ports used. Here is the best Thread for you to dig deeper, hope this helps 😊 : forums.macrumors.com/threads/new-14-m1-pro-external-monitors.2319582/?post=30528837#post-30528837

@@MinimalNerd Thanks for the link and reply. It is as I suspected, a hard cap at two external monitors with M1 Pro then, just like the hard cap at 1 external with M1. So that would probably be the only reason for me to get the M1 Max, the M1 Pro is fast enough, ok 64GB mem sounds nice too, but the price, ouch! 😂 Yes sure using DisplayLink is always an option, and might actually be ok for auxiliary content past 2 external monitors. Maybe I will consider that to keep the cost down, newer stuff coming in 1.5 years anyway, and the top speced bleeding edge is always at a high price premium, so maybe I can avoid that with DisplayLink then, if I really need more than two 32” 4k external monitors.
