MACC should also seek the help of our neighbouring countries especially Singapore to gather informations on money trace where many Malaysian hide their dirty and stolen monies in Singapore Banks even without interest at all. Singapore government should be willing to help in such corruption cases because Singapore hate corruption and bad dirty monies.

In any international banks or corporations or even local banks in Singapore, gifts valued $200 or more, must be reported by all staff. Likewise, Spore civil service has similar rules. Iswaran can act blur and pretend that the gifts are low values from his perspective of super high wages. He is not above the law to ignore code of conduct and company rules. It's sad the hosts dare not talk about Mahathir children's wealth and how they amassed them.

Concerning Mahathir's family immense wealth, and even Najib's and others in Malaysia as well, basically it's greed and power. To one money is king and power, to the other it's entitlement because your parent has "contributed" to the development and wealth of the country and the bumiputra thingy (as strongly expounded by MM himself). Why own so much for yourself - even products that are against your religious belief? The money and wealth they possess through their connections can feed many generations to come.

@@johnchua9387 Malaysia has a wide agricultural economy so corruption is bound to happen like similar economies in Indonesia, Philippines, etc. Very hard to enforce and will take years to enforce. In a small city state like Singapore, even with its fat wallets, it also happens especially sensitive amongst civil servants. Maybe fairer to compare Singapore to other economies. What you see is Iswaran case, but there are also other cases, big and small. Even lower ranking civil servants particularly from Immigration are exposed to such things. We do. And with paper trail, very hard to escape from detection. Despite Singapore being small and efficient, it takes months and years to catch the culprits big and small. So, no need to romanticise Singapore. Corruption happens in Singapore too. Things are expensive and everything imported. So certain people do what they can to get by. I am not condoning and excusing corruption for the ordinary people. But for Harvard educated Minister on that million dollars salary, he clearly knew that it was corruption.

@@kays3956 Who is denying that corruption does not exist even in relatively clean Singapore? There is nothing to do with the size of the country. It has everything to do with the human behaviors. We are talking about enforcement here. Please don't come up with reasons that are laughable. If everyone thinks like you, obviously, the conviction to get rid of corruption is lacking in those countries you mentioned. Do you think tackling corruption is easy ? It is what the law enforcement department is going to do about it if corruption occurs. That's what I am interested to know.

When Mr Peter reported there were portholes and water leakage near the area he resided to MPSJ and Road department, each of them was evading their responsibility resulting in water (money) wasted and flowed into the drain. Peter was helpless and the ex Minister couldn't give any advice to deal with the matter. Blast it out in the press how and I think the Harrappan Unity Govt will rush to the scene. Mr Peter, I would suggest u wrote down the bane if the person from both depts, u contacted.

We need to ask where the King and all the Sultans derived their ill-gained wealth. Take the Sultan of Johor, for instance, who solicits bribes from all MMH holders who choose to settle down and buy a house in Johor. I heard from a reliable source that they have to pay the Sultan’s Tax (no receipt provided) of as much as AUD$25,000 ( in this individual’s case) for the privilege of living in Johor.

Speaking of CM Chow in Penang. There were rumours circulating that LGE was making a come back and tried to oust CM Chow after the recent state election. However, the penang state constitution stipulated that a CM can only hold office for two terms. This is the question I hope you both can clarify. Is it that a CM cannot hold power for two consecutive terms or that a person cannot hold CM power for more than two terms even separately?

Simple rule- as a public servant, you already enjoy a good salary, perks & fringe benefits & so don't accept "favours" of any kind/ in any form! In all govt. departments, investigate all complaints thoroughly, other than the normal " wear & tear " process, all other reasons are probably due to "people inefficiency"! Look at the problem/s & then look at the people entrusted in preventing problems ! Practise rewards & punishment policy & discipline falls in line automarically!

I can understand water disruption due to servicing or repair, But salty tap water is the one thing nobody should experience, not a few days or weeks, it is still on going since early 2023. Water could be the reason for wars. Just replacing ancient leaking pipes is not enough. There needs to be a coherent national understanding and plan about water. It is a finite resource. Increasing the tariff shouldn't just be about maintaining the status quo but urgently about what can the nation do when rainfall becomes one third or half the yearly average? What is industry doing to recycle water or to use recycled water, like the semiconductor factories which are frighteningly guzzling enormous amounts of water. And we are not differentiating between raw water and treated water.

Durian sold in Malaysia ought to be much cheaper than sold in Singapore and elsewhere of course. That includes Malaysian Musang durian ice-cream and other durian products manufactured and sold in Singapore. Singapore also re-sells treated water back to Johore in Malaysia at a higher price than people paid in Penang. Teh tarik and rote canai sold in Kuala Selangor is much more cheaper than those sold in Brickfields in KL and Batu Ferringhi. Stick to the contract signed - that's integrity and rule of law.

In 1987 Malaysia had the chance to review the price but did not do so. Probably because if they increase the raw water price sold to Singapore, the treated water price they buy from Singapore will also increase.

Gift-giving for a public servant cannot be more than $50 in Singapore once upon a time. Not sure of the amount now. With S. Iswaran's salary, no reason to accept gifts worth more than $50. Singaporean Ministers are infamous for their super high salaries. Some of my public servants from Singapore would refuse even books that are worth more than $50 even though they helped the authors with research of the book. With their super high salaries, everything have to be inspected thoroughly. Why would you exempt the "imported" top officials from corruption when us peasants are told to keep to high standards?! He said he is not guilty. Our thick manifesto on corruption which all public servants are told to sign and exhort to reminds us of this constantly. So what if you think these are first class tickets to football matches, musicals and F1 races or trips? S Iswaran knows he accepts bribes. Bribes are bribes. Especially on your million dollar salaries, bonuses and pension funds. To me he is as guilty as hell. Pretty sure there are others who might have done something on a large scale or smaller. Depends on where you are looking.

Water loss before entering meter very high, common sense stuff! Quality of water service is very poor. We have flooding all over country annually, which is ridiculously foolishness, wastage of natural resources. We have a abundance of free rain water which we can really afford to provide very minimal tariff rate, similarly we can have toll free highway and tenaga national. This will enhance public productivity and national building across the board, building up nation capital .
