Herod the great is also remembered for attempting to order various executions on the day he died, apparently in order to ensure that proper grief was shown. It seems Herod the great was or was at least seen as extremely irrational and violent, something that would mean that the massacre of the innocents would be in character.

Huh?
@lawrencehorner84183 жыл бұрын
@@zivgolan4921 Meaning that, because Herod was a practicing Jew, he was not allowed to eat pork according to Mosaic dietary rules, so even if he happened to have a pig, it would be relatively safe, at least from consumption. On the other hand, Herod the Great was known to have had several family members put to death if he suspected them of plotting against him in any way.

@ryanvoll70884 жыл бұрын
Matt Tarrant It does matter, specially if true believers watch this. Too many believers have a wrong interpretation of the bible, due to oral tellings and because of what they are told in church. I’m not a believer, but I think it’s important to use the proper wording from the bible. Already too many wrongful beliefs about what the bible says when it doesn’t.

Great video Sam! 3:45 The notion of separate kingship and high priesthood is not found in Numbers, but you are probably thinking about Korah's dispute over the leadership which is found there, ch. 16. Indeed, the institution of kingship is never mentioned in Numbers. Notions of separate kingship are found in Deuteronomy, in chapters 17-18. Interestingly, the notion of a strict devision probably did not exist in the early monarchy; David performs sacrificial rites (2Sam 6) and his sons served as priests (2Sam 8). Still, unlike in Hasmonean times, this was probably the exception not the rule, as the Levite-Zadokite clan is said to be the primary priestly family.

It is incorrect to say that the Western or Wailing Wall is the only remaining part of Herod's temple complex. Most if not all of the temple platform wall is Herodian. The significant of the Wailing Wall is later, from a time when Jews were banned from the temple platform and were only allowed access to the southern portion of the western retaining wall which was next to the Jewish quarter of Jerusalem. The Jews of that time took to mourning there consistent with Psalm 137.
@sydneyhoward37546 ай бұрын
The wailing wall has nothing to do with the 2nd temple. No stone was left on another when the Romans destroyed Jerusalem in 70AD. So the wailing wall is most certainly a Roman fortress.

While later traditions say that 14 000 or 64 000 or 144 000 boys where killed in the massacre (all numbers of prophetic significance), scholars today estimate that the massacre would only have between 6 and 20 victims, based on what we know about the population of Bethelem at that time. Ordering the killing of a handful of boys in another town, while gruesome, is still insignificant in the life of Herod, all things considered.

wait, are there still Davidic claims to the Judean throne?!
@TurtleMarcus4 жыл бұрын
As far as I can tell, there are no active Davidic pretenders to the Judean throne. And today, the kingship of David is so associated with Messianic prophecies, that it would be difficult for someone to claim the Davidic throne without causing a big religious controversy. In Babylon, you had the Exilarchs, who was often regarded as a king-in-waiting. The last Exilarch died in 940 CE, but references to people claiming descent from the Exliarchs appear as late as the 13th century. The Bagrationi Dynasty - which ruled Georgia from the Middle Ages and until 1800 CE - also claimed descent from David. This claim is regarded as legendary with no historical foundation. But if it's true, that would make Prince David Bagration (b. 1976) or Prince Nugzar Bagration-Gruzinsky (b. 1950) the current claimant. The Ethiopian Imperial family claims descent from King Solomon, who of course was the son of David. Their current pretender is Prince Zera Yacob Ahma Selassie (b. 1953).

By belief in Him alone you can be saved, you receive eternal life and you need to spend time with Him to know Him. Attend a church, read and obey scripture. Be saved, free, forgiven, healed, delivered, baptized, whole and let Him show you how He is everything you need. He alone satisfies. Seek God and see your worth how loved you are and know who He is, read scripture. 💕 We are to live righteous and Holy because He said to and He paid for our way to live like Him. Ask anything in His name and the Father will do it amen. Hallelujah Praise the Lord God Almighty 🙏 Thank You Yeshua. I lift up everyone's prayers, wants and needs to You Yeshua, please pour out blessings. May Your favor and mercy be upon the world. In Yeshua's name come help us all. You know our needs and everything else about each of us. In Yeshua's name amen thank you Yeshua praise God 🙏 Father God Help people to be rooted and grounded in Your love and to obey Your truth. That they are living in the truth being taught by You. That they know Your voice and word. Knowing truth from errors, discernment. 💕 We are to live righteous, doing the right thing always and living in obedience to scripture, every word of it. We are ambassadors of Christ. We represent God, when we are seen Yeshua should be seen, His ways not ours. We should be living for and showing God, living for His glory. We are to be an example of Yeshua, for the world to see Him and want to know Him and know Him more. 🙏 🔥 2 Chronicles 7:14 says, if My people humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways I will hear them from heaven and heal their land. 🙏 💖 People need to turn from their wicked ways, Yeshua paid for it. That's God stating it in that verse and there are more verses. People need to repent, to be cleansed by His blood and live Holy because He's Holy and righteous because He's righteous. Our God said to stop sinning in many many scriptures and He paid for everyone to be cleansed of sin (Isaiah 53), and to live how He said. He dwells in the Holy temple (your body) and said not to defile the temple. He said to defile the temple is death. He's always serious about everything He said to do. He's just as serious about what He said not to do. We live in obedience to His law, which is all of scripture, every word of it! He dwells within us all to be with and lead us in His ways. 💕🙏🔥 🕊️ Deuteronomy 28 there are blessings for obedience and curses for disobedience. The whole chapter, and verse 46 is one example of generational curses. These go into the following generations, the 3 and 4th. Our children pay the price for our sin. God has said to stop sinning. Scripture says how you are sending consequences to yourself and to your loved ones, children. By God's law you are. If you don't believe me ask Him, in Jesus Yeshua's name may you see and know the truth in its fullness. Yeshua is worthy of everything He said and paid for, so I implore you to do as God said. Yeshua said If you love Me you will obey My commands. Love Him with all your heart, mind, soul and strength.💖🙏🕊️🔥 obeying His every word and in that is life more abundantly. Praise God so Awesome!! Hallelujah Yeshua 🙏 God loves all of you and you are worthy to Him, Yeshua died for all because God loves everyone he sent Him. Come know Him, Yeshua call upon Him 💕 the world knows Him as Jesus, He answers 💕 Thank You, Yeshua for Your obedience and love, even unto Your death You obeyed the Father 🙏 Hallelujah Praise the Lord God Almighty 💕 In Yeshua's mighty name 🙏🔥💖🕊️ God is always faithfully Himself and so awesome. Every way He said He would be in scripture He is. Every day ages and ages of Him never changing. Hallelujah Yeshua Praise the Lord God Almighty 🙏🕊️🔥💖 Obey all of scripture, the full gospel which is life more abundant being lived and then watch God change things you are praying for 💕

7:14 huge fan Sam, but everyone knows that there were only "3 wise men," right? The magoi were never numbered in Matthew. This later European detail stems from their gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh, which Matthew does mention. And it might be good to consider what such a contingent of religious leaders coming to Herod might actually look like. But at that point, we'd have to acknowledge that Persia exists.

Is there anyone living today that is known to be a descendant of the Davidic Dynasty? Or is it just guesses of who might be, or which historical person might have been a descendant of King David?
