The demos are amazing - My Brave Face came out tarted up in signature 80's fashion which sounded great at the time but sounds a bit grating now; but the demo is fab, Macca and Costello sound like proper Two of Us John & Paul, acoustic guitars, harmonising. The Lovers that never were is the best song they wrote together and again the demo is amazing - the Off the Ground version is not bad, but man that demo, one of McCartney's best latter day vocals, tackling a ballad in his I'm Down/Helter Skelter voice, brilliant

Everything Paul has done after the Beatles is Gravy. He's written enough perfect songs for a dozen great artists. If he gets a few more great ones, it's money in the bank.

I always wondered what Lennon would have told McCartney in private about his Wings stuff if The Beatles had continued into the 70's.: Maybe I'm Amazed ...That's a good one that. Band On The Run.....Good bass line Give Ireland Back To The Irish....Let's really make someone angry with that. Silly Love Songs....Silly fucking song. Live And Let Die...Oh God you're not still banging on about bloody Bond are you? Jet....No, just no. Mull Of Kintyre....I've got some lyrics for that...and a new tune. The other point is that much of it wouldn't have made it to a Beatles record as Harrison's material was increasingly strong.

I wonder if the comments on these videos are so negative because it's a bunch of Elvis Costello fans hating on Paul... not enough people hating on Elvis even though he's known to be hard to get along with....huge fan of both of them btw

When Hugh Pagdham was producing Paul's "Press to Play", he said to him during a session, " that's not very good", to which Paul apparently replied "what was the last number one you wrote?".

I actually think Paul is pretty cool about it all - remember how huge the Beatles were, and all things considered, I think he is holding his ground pretty well. His contribution to the Beatles work was easily 25% + and to knock him for continuing to make music that is more interesting than those around him is lame in my view...Hey the guy is inspired at a later phase in his life and at least trying to be creative...give him a break...John's solo stuff wasn't moving mountains either and I think the musical world continues to be a better place with any of the fab four still in it....

+Joseph Huiras Maybe 75%. Played all the instruments some of the time, and when he didn't he told the others what to play in a lot of instances. Had to tell the others to get off their lazy asses. You can hear him telling the others what to do as early as I want to hold your hand. The outtakes used to be on here. He was the boss.

@@33dentin the boss, founder and leader of the Beatles was John Lennon. That said, Paul was the main musical arranger. John wrote more songs than Paul in the Beatles including their first big hit that broke them

Good interview. She asks some great questions and is very direct. These days interviews with Paul seem quite watered down and controlled as no one wants to upset a legend. Chaos and creation was his last great album as the producer Nigel Godrich took no shit from him (which I believe McCartney hated) but it created a great album. The last album 'New' was awful and harked back to the unfiltered McCartney doing what he wanted even when a song idea was complete shit. 'New' got a lot of undeserved awards and positive reviews as no one wants to risk being left out if an interview or article opportunity which unfortunatley makes McCartney think he is right and will lead to poor quality new music going forward I suspect. Still, he's done enough music for several careers and to answer what someone asked what Paul did after the Beatles? he has created songs just as good on his own including Live and Let Die which is an incredible song.

Driving Rain is a much better album than CHaos. Chaos is strong, but driving rain and even NEw are better albums. Paul doesn't need people like Nigel or elvis to tell him how to do things.

Yeah, I hate that attitude of some people of "Paul needs someone to tell him what's good and what's not". The evidence of his whole carrer says otherwise!. Of course everyone, him inlcuded, can use constructive criticism, but he doesn't need it anymore than any other artist. Hell, if anything he needs it less.

@@thomaspappalardo7589 Yeah I think Paul was saying it in a joking way. The guy seems very down to earth to me. I also think that his melodic sense is the top 30 of those alive still probably a smaller number. HIs lyrics can be his downfall but he has crafted great lyrics too. However, Elvis Costello is more a lyrics guy I think...different styles but I guess I like the sarcastic turn of a phrase that Elvis can do quite well.
