Just stumbled across them about a month or two ago. Found Koji's solo stuff first when he was little older, kept on getting recommended Anzenchitai and realized that they were one in the same. It's just hit after hit after hit. Kind feels like stumbling onto Prince for the second time tbh. It genuinely hits.

Really enjoyed the reaction. Anzen Chitai is a legendary band in Japan and I highly recommend listening to their "Wine Red no Kokoro" or "Koi no Yokan"

I have a feeling it was me who asked you to check this out...and indeed it was. So I say thank you for fulfilling my request. An interesting fact: At that time when the live took place, he was suffering from mental illness, possibly bipolar. So this entire live had the unhinged vibe. The song title translates to "a warning from 1991" the band's name means either the safety zone or the protected area. BTW it's not silence, but 'siren' as in Greek mythology... Alarm bells(sirens) are going off... then something drastic happens and the silence falls...I think that's what he says in the chorus part. so actually he used the 2 different words here. I have to reminds you though, this song is the craziest thing he ever came up with, he was a versatile singer and song writer at his peak, combining different genres and elements into his songs, just like band-maid does... wonder if he was the one who started the trend... Japanese rock music in the 80s were mostly fusion between pop-rock or pop-rockabilly plus a hint of traditional Japanese music until anzen-chitai came out, imo.

The song is about a dystopia where all life has been wiped out by a nuclear bomb, and only sirens ring out in vain in a world of silence.

He was saying silence. In Japan they take loan words and write them in japanese. サイレンス (Sairensu) is Silence. The japanese language doesn't have the sound for L in it, so they use Ru, Ri , Re , Ro , Ra for words that have the L sound. Like = Raiku, Lesson = Ressun. They do however pronounce the words with the L sound, which is when it becomes Laiku instead of Raiku.

He only says "silence" at the end of the song. Otherwise, he is saying "siren." The title of the song translates to "A Warning from 1991" and the sirens are warning sirens in the context of the First Gulf War.

@@stuart3155 Yeah i knew that he says siren until the last chorus but i did not know about the gulf war connection, neat.

Too bad the singer changed the vocal melody in this performance (as many do in live). Original song’s vocal melody is really good and it’s what really makes this song good. Nevertheless, this was a good performance. For the first time listener to this song the original vocal melody would have been better.

Lead singer/rhythm guitar guy is the legendary Koji Tamaki who is now 62 years old and still performing. One if the great voices in rock history and awesome front man for Anzen Chita. Also, great songwriter who wrote many hits. He wrote and performed the 1st version of the great song "Autumn Strong" which has been over the years a huge hit for many artists including Jacky Cheung, Terry Lin, and Dimash Kudaibergan.
