I often wonder if people who are not from Detroit, or intimate with its contribution to music can understand the genre's or electronic music which stem from it. I imagine they can, I imagine the beauty and message of techno is universal. For me though, I'm glad that this universal message is attached not only to sounds but visions of past memories. I highly recommend the Movement music festival in Detroit for anyone who wants a shot glass approach to experiencing Detroit and the museum-like qualities of techno that it offers.

What to say about Detroit? Only one word: Awesome!! I'm glad that I had the oportunity to live in the D for one year as a exchange student. There is a place in Detroit called TV Lounge, and I'm grateful for all of my life to discover this place and listening to the best of techno and genres like progressive in Detroit. One more thing: "Put your hands up for Detroit! Our lovely city!"

Dylan Roberts Where to start! If you have a few months you can see a lot. There is no best scene, each country has its own take on the techno sound. London, Berlin, Madrid. Good places to start, each have amazing house and techno scenes to explore. Also, lots of amazing outdoor clubs in Italy. End your trip with some time in Ibiza, the only island in the world devoted purely to dance music. I can name specific clubs if you want. And, there are more dance music festivals across europe than one person could ever attend.

Strange that laurent actually played this very tune back in 1992/93, my sister had it on Laurent Garnier mix tape, (i may have it somewhere :) This plex version must just be a remix, he didn't make it. Good all the same and still rocks as it did back then.

Yes Maceo Plex is known for making Tech House, house, and deep house music, but this particular song is a shoutout to Detroit Techno.. Personally I liked it when techno had a faster bpm in the past, this avoided any confusions with house... Now that techno is slow 120-128bpm there is always a confusion of what's techno and what's house for a lot of people... So bring back techno above 130bpm and and 140bpm like the old days hahaha

Man this track 121 bpm :D Anyway, there is no olddays-nowadays groups, there were always fast and slow techno music, yeah currently the 120-130 bpm is trendier. But you are right, tech-house and techno genre are easliy mix up. There is one good rule: if the track is good and quality then its techno, if it is not then its tech house :)
