Trying out a MacFly Paramotor and comparing it in a few ways against my well loved Parajet Maverick.
Differences:
Throttle position, left vs right: Not as impacting as I was thinking!
MacFly has great response with weight shift
MacFly Harness is VERY comfortable, but for now the clips are ....ok!
I like the Mav clips better!
I like the 4 piece net system of the MacFly and ease of restringing.
I like the ability to break-down the hoop for transport if needed.

Thanks for taking the time to share. Enjoyed watching you fly. I will spread my wings in the spring (2021). Enrolled in class and can't wait to join you in the sky.

Good Tube. Saw your comment on Marks broken pull string. Going to take a closer look on my Atom80 at that location along with adding some reinforcement to entry point of recoil.

I have a friend that has a MacFly mounted on a trike and I use a Maverick mounted on a Calibra trike. I like the calibra trike because it has wider wheels. Calibra makes the trike specific to the paramotor. You can contact them for pricing and pictures of what your machine would look like. Just letting you know you have other options out there.

Loved the video. There are a lot of chemtrails in the sky. I even saw a jet leaving a chemtrail above you. They constantly complain about CO2 but they won't allow a plain blue sky.

Nice review. I'm interested in the MacFly myself. FYI, I have a Maverick now and am using the Retracta trike with it. Not sure how well it would work with the mods you've made but it's a sweet set up. Bob Bauer who makes it could tell you if it would work, if you are interested. I have an unboxing/assembly video on my channel for the Parajet version of the trike.

I’ll take a look. I’ve just learned about that! Was told the hoop on the Mav flexed too much for trike flight....but maybe it was skills all along! Thanks for watching and the input!

I have the same set up and I think the Retracta trike will prevent bending that happens on the Maverick as described in the video. I did damage my net when learning to fly the trike though but I think that was bad technique.

The SOL harness is probably the best harness that comes with the Macfly. If you can, I'd upgrade to the SOL harness. Matt Maynard can set you up.

The harness is super comfortable. The only “complaint “ is the buckles, and this is only because I started with the other. I’ve parked the Mav and use the Macfly exclusively! Thank you for checking in, and I will check out the SOL!

Hi, one has to be a little careful when changing the construction on paramotors. As you explain that the Parajet (My previous model) deforms on hard landing: Exactly that is your crumple zone. If you do a hard landing with the MacFly (I fly one) it deforms as well. If you weld inserts in that area you stiffen your Maverick and counteract your crumple zone. As on your car it is not a good idea to stiffen your crumple zone, as these ensure the reduction of force acting on your body in a case of an accident. Best regards, Marc
@eagleteam2004
@eagleteam2004 2 жыл бұрын
Very good point Marc. I’ve since sold the Maverick, keeping the MacFly as I like it’s overall construction better. This particular MacFly was flown by my brother-in-law and on a landing he hit some rotor over some trees. He took a hard landing with it from about 12ft and landed square on the bottom. Broke his back.
@eagleteam2004
@eagleteam2004 2 жыл бұрын
…my point is that light-weight materials and crumple zones are nice but things happen. The Maverick(after mod) would still fold on a hard enough landing, I and others just need it to recover better on simple mistakes versus deforming and sending the prop into the net. A very costly mistake. Your point is well advised, thank you!

@@eagleteam2004 Oh wow, that's terrible. I'm looking at the MacFly for my first unit (the all-Titanium one) but this story about the broken back scares me. I was hoping it had enough room underneath the seat that even if you took a hard landing from 8-12 feet, your back would be ok. Sounds like it doesn't. By the way, can you tell me what wing he was flying when this happened? If it wasn't an EN-A rated wing, do you think an EN-A rated wing would have saved him?
@eagleteam2004
@eagleteam2004 Жыл бұрын
@@Dreaklockhe was flying an Ozone Spyder. It’s a great wing. It was operator error where he had cut his engine as he was gliding in over the tree line. At that point the rotor at the tree line countered his speed and lift driving him unexpectedly to the ground. I started with the Ozone Mojo but it didn’t take me long to favor the Spyder 2.

@@ChrisJewell7333 Just got my macfly a month ago and this harness feels different. I feel like every other harness runs WAY TOO small. But this one actually feels big. Lots of loose stuff going on. What do you believe are the affects? Does it give you a lot more weight shift then other harnesses? Do you think it’s larger in any way other then it’s seat board?
@ChrisJewell7333
@ChrisJewell7333 2 жыл бұрын
@@prunepoo I started paragliding a while back and with Paragliding weight shift is definitely noticeable you can feel the movement of the wing in your seat with a Paramotor I’ve been flying for 3 1/2 years very seldom do I spend or waste the energy to try to weight shift little bit on wing overs but other than that I just use my breaks and sit back and enjoy the ride yeah there’s something different about this harness with the McFly it just feels loose the first few fly to even put a couple pillows under my chest to kind of snug me up in to the straps but I’m used to it now. If I had to do over again I would’ve went with a different style harness knowing now what I know about this set up.
