if you roll a 3 (and you have a cafe)when you have the shopping mall activated, would you take a 2 coins from the opposite player or 1 from the opposing player (as the cafe says) and one from the bank, or two from the opposing player?
@WatchItPlayed8 жыл бұрын
+meliagabrielle This question is a little tricky to answer, as I think there may be some rules issues in the wording. If 'you' roll a 3, you don't activate your own cafe's. Your Cafe's only give 'you' money, when a 3 is rolled by 'someone else'. The shopping Mall boosts the effect of your Cafe's, so if an opponent rolls a 3, and you have a Cafe, you take 2 coins from that opponent.

Question about one of the rules: when it says there is an activation order: red, blue, then purple, does that mean you can use all those colors for one roll, just in that order? Or does it mean you activate red the first time you get that number, then in a different turn, if you roll that same number you can then use blue next, ect?

Great tutorial! Got this game for months now but the instructions that comrs with it is too vague. I have one question: If I flipped the Radio Tower earlier in the game and have a chance to use it, do I get to re-roll the dice after I have, say, bought a ranch, which then gives me sort of two turns during said turn, or am I only able to re-roll if my dice does not affect anyone, myself included? I hope my question made sense.
@WatchItPlayed4 жыл бұрын
Hey Michelle, while I do my best to answer all rules questions on my videos, I avoid getting into specific card effects and interactions - it's just a bit too much for me to manage, with all the games I feature. You may want to check with the publisher directly, or check BoardGameGeek to see if there is an answer in the game's forums there.

Rodney, have you had or heard of the issue of the low value cards winning out too quickly? I don't know if we had a rules goof, but going for the higher value cards/engine would lose b/c the small value strategy would get the 4 objectives too quickly. Peace

When you unlock the shopping mall and you receive one coin for ever coffee cup and toast establishment. Does that only happen once, on your turn each round or when that specific number of dice is rolled by any player?
@WatchItPlayed6 жыл бұрын
The shopping mall gives you 1 extra coin anytime you would collect money for coffee or toast. So this doesn't happen when you buy it, but instead anytime you would collect for one of those types of symbols. And it only gives you the +1 coin for each of those symbols that you would be collecting money for already on that turn.

So I was just curious if you made a video on this game. (It seems like you've covered every game already) Turns out... I've been playing this game COMPLETELY wrong XD At home, we play with a field of 12 cards (for construction) and a pile. When you buy one of the cards, you refill the 12 and the next player can do their turn. It takes more luck to get the build you are aiming for... Even though I absolutely HATE luck-based games, this makes the game a bit more worth it for me. The official rules seem a bit easy to be honest...? What's your opinion on this? And btw: do you have any tips on extending gameplay? (We're always finished in less than half an hour) Sorry for this long and probably confusing comment 😅 LOVE your tutorials btw. I watch them to decide wether I'm going to buy a game or not. Thanks for your work!

I've only played this once, with two players, and it seemed like best strategy is to buy a bunch of the 1-6 buildings and only ever roll one die, otherwise you're spreading yourself too thin. Is that the general idea, or is it different with more people?

I have heard people suggest there are certain collections of buildings that work better, but I think the expansions address this, by having a constantly changing group of buildings to buy from (ie, you don't have the same options each time).

Rodney, we have played the game now 5 times or so and have really enjoyed it. However, are we the only ones that are realizing that whoever is able to activate the Shopping Mall first typically wins? The winner of the last game was able to activate the shopping mall first, then the next two landmarks without even needing to roll two dice with an activated Train Station. All he had to do to win the next turn was turn was to activate his Train Station with only 4 coins. It seems like we are missing something that will allow the game to last at least long enough for the higher (7-12) buildings to be built. And there seems to be no way to slow an opponent down except for the luck of the dice and if you build the Business Center. Thoughts?

Sorry Danny, I don't feel equipped to give you answers on game balance. Perhaps a better question for posting on Board Game Geek?

I've found that specific strategies do tend to work better, but then I found a variant of the game that I tend to favor. Its called the 8,9,or 10 card variant. Basically you play the game like the Harbor expansion says to do. 8 establishment card piles for 2 players, 9 card piles for 3 and 10 for 4. You shuffle all the establishments together and separate them into their 10 different piles. I would recommend watching a video about the harbor expansion. It explains it a bit better then I can. Hope that helps!

if you have the Shopping mall, does your cafés steal 2 coins? or do you just earn 1 coin from the bank and steal one coin from the player?

+MikeymajQ There's a discussion on that here, which may help: boardgamegeek.com/thread/1064803/how-does-shopping-mall-affect-cafes-and-family-res
