I do believe its to keep the fabric in place so it doesnt move while being stitched.

I think she used that on the smaller appliqué pieces to keep in place while stitching. You can use a glue stick as well!

All you would need to do is use burlap on the back for the last step, in the video we use drop cloth fabric...just switch that out for burlap.

while I was watching this my husband (who was downstairs) was scouring the house for the annoying alarm sound which we discovered stopped when I paused the video to listen for his noise LOL . I'm not a fan of distracting music in the background of spoken tutorials either
