Who cares if the lyrics aren’t “deep”? Pop punk songs historically don’t have deep lyrics. It’s apparent that MGK and friends were trying to make their version of a silly pop punk love song; something like “Right Now” or “All The Small Things” or “Girl All the Bad Guys Want”. Those songs don’t have deep lyrics either and they’re fine. This fails because the concept of “emo girl” is so stupid and misconceived.
