This is amazing!! As a newbie to the circle machine and making knitted hats (doing a load for my local hospital for the maternity ward) I wanted to make some more interesting and seasonal. This is perfect for autumn and Christmas. Tutorial was brilliant and so easy to follow. Thank you so much for this. Can’t wait to see how mine turns out ❤

Have tried a couple of goes but for some reason some of mine are dropping a stitch. Have you got any ideas or suggestions? I’ve tightened the tension in the hope that that would fix it but it doesn’t x
@TheAddiQueen4 ай бұрын
I would just go slower. If you see the machine starting to drop a stitch, you can fix it before it happens.

Very cute. Great tutorial. Thank you. I will let you know that I put duct tape on the bottom of the suction cups and stick it to my work desk. This helps hold down the machine so it doesn't move on you as you work. Its an easy fix and easy to clean up after.

It depends. Sometimes, people oil their machines, but that isn't an everyday chore. They are pretty easy to keep and maintain.

What row counts would you suggest for a child's version of this? My girls are wanting me to make them hats like this. I've tried making them hats on my 40 before and they're just a little too tight so I'm already figuring it's going to have to be on the 48 anyway I'm just unsure of how many rows of inside color and how many rows of pattern. They're a little over 6 years old if that helps.

I love your pattern! I've used it to make my own beanie and love it. However, I tried to make one doing 4 stitches by 4 rows and it didn't work out the same. When I took it off the machine it was all spread out. Was wondering if maybe the 4 stitches was to much or if there was anything else I should have adjusted?
@TheAddiQueen Жыл бұрын
It could have been too much, either that or your tension was too lose
@RocLobo358 Жыл бұрын
Because of the curved format you lose tension in the yarn if the yarn behind has to stretch too far on the curve You can pull it very tightly but at some point the long thread will never be tight enough and you're possibly going to damage a needle. You can see her stitches are pretty loose and will look messy in some yarns and the stitches will be uneven.
@arlenedevroy11102 жыл бұрын
Seems like it would be easier to just knit by hand with regular needles.
@TheAddiQueen2 жыл бұрын
That may be true. Just sharing this pattern for those who want to do this particular technique on the knitting machine.

I like this. I wonder if ther is a way to knit the lining then transfer to knitting needles for the fair isle. I could do it a lot faster.
@TheAddiQueen Жыл бұрын
You could using "waste yarn" that way your work doesn't unravel while you transfer to your needles
@reeda5390 Жыл бұрын
I tried to recreate this technique but I'm having a lot of trouble with it! I've only used two colors so that may be the problem? I keep ending up with ladder like spaces between my checks. It's like the different colors aren't connected. Do you have any idea what I might be doing wrong?
@TheAddiQueen Жыл бұрын
It sounds like tension is your issue. The spaces show up because the yarn isn't tight enough
@reeda5390 Жыл бұрын
@@TheAddiQueen I thought that might be the case! But when I made my second hat I pulled as tightly as possible but still had the same problem 🤔 is there anything else at all you can think of that I might be doing wrong?
@TheAddiQueen Жыл бұрын
Do you have Facebook? I could give you better advice if I had a visual
@tonyoliver49203 жыл бұрын
Wouldn’t it be easier to do the whole thing in white and use a specialist tartan fabric dye. The stuff they use for traditional Scottish Kilts is really expensive but if it’s only for a hat it might be economical. FYI: a kilt is 4-13 yards of fabric, 18-36 inches wide
@TheAddiQueen3 жыл бұрын
While that may sound easier, doing fair isle does have advantages. A hat completed like this will be thicker and warmer. Also, dye can get to be messy and a lot of people may not have access to it. Completing a hat like this also keeps the costs of production to a minimum
@tonyoliver49203 жыл бұрын

@TheAddiQueen Жыл бұрын
For that i would do a duplicate stitch. Fair isle can get kind of ugly depending on what you're trying to accomplish
