@@heyaisdabomb Exactly right. Apart from a UV light bulb and a few filters, this thing should not cost much more than my $150 dehumidifier. It's hard to imagine why some business owners don't have the common sense to drop the price to affordable levels in order to make more profit from a higher volume of sales. Knowing all the chemicals in municipal water, I am certain if this was for sale at a sensible price, everybody would want one in their home.... They're probably trying to make a killing while they can, they'll soon lose their business when China start making these devices for less than $300!!! They also need to stop using plastic collection bottles and pipes etc, as research shows phthalates in plastics are a serious cancer and health hazard, phthalates also cause sterility and birth defects in male babies, buyer beware.

With solar concentrators/lenses a Stirling engine can be used to produce work like running an A/C compressor or even hooked to a generator to make electricity. There are some people on YT that have removed the huge lenses from old rear projection TV's and with sunlight it focus' the radiant heat of the sun to a very small intensely hot point, hot enough to melt pennies or boil water.

@coldfinger459sub03 жыл бұрын
Dehumidifier is much cheaper produces the same thing very energy in efficient for watts per liter of water. At least if you could take to waste heat and recover that energy to heat your domestic water like your water heater or swimming pool instead of wasting that energy blowing it back out into the atmosphere through the condenser. Then it would be some money recovered instead of just pure waste of making water only. And that’s great for around the bay area especially when the water blows over the bay and is normally around 70 to 80% humidity it takes less watts of power to produce a pint of water. Will you take that exact same machine and go out to Modesto or Fresno in the summertime and you only have 25% humidity you’ll be burning lots of lots of power for a few tablespoons of water. Only works efficiently where the humidity is high. And without filtering to filter the air whatever duster contaminants whatever mold spores bacteria fungus pollen road debris dust in the air condenses on the fins that roll off with the water you’re about to drink so you have to filter it.

I feel it’s much less expensive to setup a rain water harvesting system. There are so many KZbin videos for ideas and how to. Most of the west coast is in a major drought but it still rains. The goal is to catch as much water as possible when it does. Check your state and local laws around rain harvesting and choose the appropriate water storage tank based on what you plan to do with the water. Don’t over complicate trying to be smart about water. If you have a roof with gutters and a downspout, it’s simple for almost anyone to setup a rain water harvesting system and use the water for your house hold needs.

Sure, why build more reservoirs? We haven't built any new ones in CA for over half a century, while the population has quadrupled. Existing ones are in desperate need of upgrading. But it's so much easier when living in a desert state to import everything, blame climate change, and tax people into oblivion. Digging a hole in the ground and creating new ecosystems is so 20th century. And yes, there's plenty of places in this state to build reservoirs and not affect runoff where it's needed.
@jakeclarke87062 жыл бұрын
Where do you think that reservoir water comes from??? The Colorado River that feeds many of them is drying up from overuse upsteam. Reservoirs don't just magically make water. The population is too large now. Sure, they could try to catch more of the runoff. Yet, that pales in comparison to all the water now lost due to many factors. The vegetation that has been removed allows for mass runoff instead of infiltration to the water table. The fires cause increased vegetation loss making the above worse. Climate change is causing loss in vegetative communities, hotter weather, and more fires. Your thinking about the runoff but not the root problems... You act like it's simple. When in reality it is way more complex than you realize. The biggest factor you didn't even think of is agriculture. Agriculture uses the lions share by far. Many will say well what do you expect no food? No, I would expect they grow crops that take much less water and are drought tolerant. Many of California's crops are water intensive like nuts and certain fruits. They are grown because the farmers can make more money on them. Then a large portion of California produce is sold overseas because more money that way. So people like you suffer the consequences while others line their pockets. Furthermore, people in California vastly overuse water. In the central valley where it's over 100F+ everyday people have grass. Native plants would be much better. Plus, the population is way too big, as you stated, for a desert. Historically, tribes that lived in deserts were small and susceptible to environmental factors that could destroy their whole civilization just like that. California needs to crack down on farming practices and overuse not try and eek every last drop they can before it's all out.

This idea was stolen from me…. Min atmospheric water maker is going to make 150gal per day, and night, night is when you capitalize on water capturing, sucks not having the funding and getting beat out by high dollar operations. I grew up on sysstern water so we didn’t have water on demand growing up. You had to go work on the system. So I devised a solar powered system to collect and filter the water for less than 10,000 including the solar system and everything else. Except the mobile house , but for power and water it’s a very diy project but I’m a journeyman pipe fitter and millwright and machinist, and electrician so I did all my own work to cut down on costs. If your savey and have 10k, you could be 100% sustainable. And never pay power or water again, people just need to realize it’s possible and become educated on being sustainable not fake online sustainable. Like actually sustain life, but perpetual motion is impossible, there is always loss to the system, and that’s the hard part, not loosing what you make, like your money from your job going to a place you never are, that you call home, 2023 work is the new home for us slaves.
