Those old Colchesters are great but the also great Gamet bearings do have more run-out then two millionths, more like 20 not much a tobacco smoke particle is 50millionths, the old Southbend could have better rotational accuracy with its plain bearings I am going to build a few black powder cartridge era rifles. I have been altering my reloading dies for years but that is about it. Nice shop and great channel!

I love the video, very knowledgeable: I would like to know the name - brand of the big blue lathe with the "K" on the front side of the gear box. I don't think it was mentioned in the video. Note: I think that a "Micron" is 1 millionth of a meter or 1x 10-6 meters ( 0.000001 meters)

A micron is not one millionth of an inch. One micron is 39.37 millionths of an inch. Three microns is 1.18 ten-thousandths (0.00011811) of an inch. That is good spindle run out, but when you're looking to hit tolerances of one ten-thousandth of an inch or less over the length of a barrel it will be a real challenge.
