This is so MH. Kids, listen to the old albums. You may not like this compared to the thrash they've been doing recently but this is completely in line with their overall sound. If you haven't heard the 70 & 80s punk/poppunk influence then you haven't been listening.
@Overrwatcher8 жыл бұрын
Sorry, all I heard was the super dark and ultra-heavy groove in their old music. They were metal as fuck and were on a label known for its death metal back then. There was some punk influence in early MH, simply because the two genres were parallel: metal had punk influences and vice versa. I can't see even remotely any bit of pop punk ever in anything in their first two albums however. If there is pop punk influences in songs like "Take My Scars", then fucking Cannibal Corpse might as well be pop punk influenced in that fucked up view. If you're talking about The Burning Red and Supercharger, those albums are massive outliers in Machine Head and it's like saying that Celtic Frost is a glam band or Cryptopsy is a deathcore band simply because they released one album of those styles which were universally hated.
@chandlersours92578 жыл бұрын
+Overr I completely agree with Overr. Ive been listening to machine head since they toured with sepultura n theyve lightened up n got heavier back n forth over their career and I stuck with em. But after hearin this garbage im done with em. I never heard a singe synth or any punk rock b.s. on THE MORE THINGS CHANGE. I heard a metal band destroying with zero give a fuck. Talkin shit bout cops (bay of pigs) n all the violence in the city they grew up in (spine) Sorry to all machine head fans that our beloved non mainstream underated gods just sold out. Oh and on a side note. Hey rob. You should probly avoid any contact with Phil Anselmo. Cause hes probly cravin some serious contact with you after that chicken shit vid u put up bout him. Out of all the funny comments your is the funniest, Deo. Because of your complete lack of reading comprehension. I didn't say Machine Head was death metal, they were always far from it. I'm saying that ROADRUNNER was known for its death metal like Deicide back then. Jesus fuck you are dumb.

NO, Machine Head DISINTEGRATED when THE Drummer, Chris Kontos, departed the band, after Burn My Eyes ... maybe seeing the writing on the wall: their lack of direction/continuity; the dabbling in emo; the dabbling in "urban" mannerisms/vocal delivery/style of dress; NOT identifying a genre and nailing it, but letting "trends" dictate which direction they go! After I had gotten advance copies of their first album, loved it so much, and spent YEARS telling EVERYBODY in the vicinity about it, and their "potential" to be one of the BEST ever, etc. Machine Head has been nothing but a Miserable FAILURE!!

Is there anybody out there? Is there anybody out there? Is there anybody out there? Is there anybody out there? Come on, come on, come on. Is anybody out... Come on, come on. I was born as a bastard, no father, no master, A shadow in silence left searching for answers Put up for adoption and left with no option Another kid fostered to fester forgotten Take a look into these desperate eyes As they’re cast into the wretched hive But I ain’t going down alone Is there anybody out there? Anybody listening to me? Is anybody else scared? The paranoia, drops me to my knees Does anybody feel lonely? Disconnected from the things I see Is there anybody out there? Anybody out there just like me? I’m choking on these words and I can’t breathe Come on, come on, come on. Is anybody out... Come on, come on. Now I stand as a father, to men with no honor Ashamed of the racists I used to call brothers Cause no flag can mean bravery, when bloodied by slavery, The rebel, a devil, disguised as a savior And the sickening feeling in the air Is the fear to speak that no one dares So will I stand here all alone? Is there anybody out there? Anybody listening to me? Is anybody else scared? The paranoia, drops me to my knees Does anybody feel lonely? Disconnected from the things I see Is there anybody out there? Anybody out there just like me? I’m choking on these words and I can’t breathe Live my life like I’ll die tonight Dream like I’ll live forever Live my life like I’ll die tonight Dream like I’ll live forever I have roared at the world for years Doesn’t anybody hear me? This burden suffered, I’ve paid the cost Not all who wander are lost Is there anybody... Is there anybody... Is there anybody... Is there anybody out there? Anybody listening to me? Is anybody else scared? The paranoia, drops me to my knees Does anybody feel lonely? Disconnected from the things I see Is there anybody out there? Anybody out there just like me? I’m choking on these words and I can’t breathe Come on, come on, come on. Is anybody out... Come on, come on. Is there anybody... Is there anybody... Is there anybody out there?

If you truly love a band/artist you should do what made you love them in the first place and just listen. It's hard for me to understand how people can dismiss this song. Machine Head is known for being epic at changing styles and staying relevant. I get there's no shredding here, but please try and hear the message rather than searching for a band trying to showcase skills....Machine Head has proven musical talent over and over again, so maybe it's time we listen when they come out with a song that sounds like it was meant for a broader audience and support it as fans. @@lazar2949 In case of Robbbbb's songwriting - yes, yes and yes. Because all there is is teenage whining, which is pathetic since the man himself was almost 50 years old back then. But, admittedly, these lyrics still aren't as bad as the lyrcs in "Do or Die".

It's a great song full of pain and emotion. Too bad some can see that.

I don't know if it's wanted or not, but the voice of the singer make me think of Corey from slipknot.
