Just another example of bad engineering. The original plate was a very porous casting and couldn't support the 20HP motor. Watch as we make a new one from a piece of solid steel. Just another day at Topper Machine LLC.

I was able to put this on 2x speed and got through it quick. I was not sure if the tapered surface was being produced while it was being done, but saw later that it had been. Excellent as always!! thanks.

I'm liking the high speed filming Josh. Thanks for making the videos! I am a fan of manual machining.

I love these kind of jobs. Heavy turning and hole drilling. Nice angles to make it look close to the cast piece. I hope they give you the rest to make up. Good easy money.

Great shtuff...You may be my new guy to watch. There's a big fat one who talks & talks more than anything and another who went weird on us...Tony something. I like the Aussy guy with the dawg.

I agree with you there. Lol. The Aussy is actually boring to me since we see the same kind of work. The only difference between him and I is that he has recourses readily available to him. I have to make due or order stuff in.

I am watching this a year after you published it. I enjoy your channel because you explain what you are doing, thus I vote for narration. High-speed footage is great once you have explained what you are going to do and are into repetitive stages, but I don't mind real-time. I generally avoid those channels that provide no narration and go super fast, especially if the shots aren't close-up so I can see what is going on.

Love the video. "Screw you Amazon", I agree totally!!!! I gave up on Amazon years ago. You did a nice job on the video and the part. This is a old video but I have not seen it. I sure hope that your part has held up and is doing a good job.

Yeah Josh I like it, that will hold up to the torque applied from a 20 HP motor. Im wondering if they can program a soft start of the drive? And yes Bugger Amazon, we have access to them now, down here in OZ. Happy to resist the tempation! Lol. Keep up the good work & Vids you do. Cheers fella.

Nice little vid on a motor adaptor plate. I'm doing the same at the moment to mount a new spindle motor to the Huron Mill. The motor is a 132 Frame with a B5 90 frame mount. Make new end plate for 132 frame to B5 90 frame mount. 1045 steel. Is cheaper to buy new motor and mak adapter plate than to rewind old one that is over 35 years old. As for Amazon yeah they can get stuffed. Cheers from Brisbane Australia.

How did you indicate the part on the mill?
@TopperMachineLLC
@TopperMachineLLC 3 жыл бұрын
I used a coaxial centering indicator, then setup my DRO for bolt circles.
@topduk
@topduk 2 жыл бұрын
After finding center, if you don't have a fancy dro, x=sin(angle)*distance_from_center y=cos(angle)*distance_from_center will give you coordinates for whatever angle around the circle you want. But if you screw up and unclamp your part for some reason, then you'll have to find center again, then find the coordinates of an existing hole to offset your original desired angles.
