Very cool though! I found you because I just pulled my motor to put stronger pistons for an F1R Procharger and I’m gonna do some head work

What kind of HP do you think you’re gonna end up with? What cubic inch is it? I hope to see you do more videos. I was gonna start a channel because I’m always doing all kinds of projects but I had a hard time talking to the camera. Thanks for sharing

Those were brazed carbide boring bars that I ground with big radius on the corner.

@@kennyrmurray The engine will 357 C.I.And should make about 630-650 HP@8500. I will find out when we dyno it. The engine will use dry sump oil system also. Thanks

The valve lash makes a big difference in piston to valve clearance because it effects the duration. The lash must be at hot clearance during a valve to piston check.

Huggins cam card only has cold spec of .008. And I did check the piston to valve at that setting and it only changed by .005 thousands. I went through all that on the first piston to figure out how much I needed to machine the pistons.

What if you add 4% methanol in racing fuel would it then be ok to use smaller head casket to run it closer to 16 to 1.

I can not say if adding 4% methanol to the gas would work or not. So using a thicker head gasket did 2 things gave me a little more piston to valve clearance that I needed and lower the compression.

The squeaking is from improper angles (rakes) on the cutter. Need more rake,

Good content but you have a lot to learn about making plans for the video so people can see the work and what you are working on. A camera man or woman would help emencly .I don't know why so many people think they can do it all by themselves. Master builder though!

The tops of the piston are thick enough. The problem was the corner of the intake valve relief to thin I could only cut .060 off . So I am going to a thicker head gasket on it, and without trimming the top of the pistons the compression will be 14.8 and that will work with race gas.

the new pistons did not have enough radial clearance for the valve to fit in the valve relief.Also when Brodix made the heads they shifted the valve locations to make them fit, because of the size of the intake valve. So each piston I had to mark the valve location with a transfer punch down the valve guide with a piston in that cylinder bore to make sure the valve relief was in the correct location.

Use the level too riff set up piston,then dial indicator to get piston the right , because using level your never perfect . half a degree 0.015 easy over big valve pocket it will be more learn that 33 year ago
