Less than you may think. Ran a VTL for years. What you see here is simple machining on one of the easiest metals to work with cast iron. This part was probably made complete in under 24 hours. The casting to is a simple one to product also.

Should be fun getting all those belts tensioned properly, even with a matched set any slight deviation from the specs on the grooves will have wildly differing belt seating and subsequent tension variations from groove to groove.... 😲

Use bonded belts (I'm sure it's as special order as the pulley) and you're good to go. Just make sure the pulleys are square to each other, lol.

@@TheDiosdebaca To a degree I agree with you, but if a couple of those machined grooves are a fraction wider than others, they wont be sharing the load equally is what I'm saying...a multi-veed bonded belt wont really solve that issue as much as mask its existence... as for your point of the pullies being parallel to each other when using bonded belts... well, HELL YEAH !! 🙄😂 😎👍☘️🍺

You can't believe how loud this is. I worked at Harnisfager in the 70's and we cut the cast iron rollers for the overhead cranes.

@@davidhamm5626 sorry, that isnt a sound argument. Whats about debree on the ground? Regular dust contains quartz cristals, which is close to diamant in its stiffness. What about hurting the structure of the object? Looks to me less impressive work, more as "primitive" or errorprone unterstanding of these people

@@muten861If the object was weak, it would have showed that when it was being machined, and it would have broken. It will be exposed to dust, all of the time when it is being used, so I do not see the issue there. Yes it is a "primitive country" , but they do get the work offered to them.If everything they made failed, you would not see the many videos, on you tube, you do not have to like what you see, some of us are fine with it

Cast iron does not require cutting oil because the excess graphite lubricates the cutting edge, and because it is relatively brittle there is not much heat generated in the process of shearing it.

@@PistoKTM The problem with any sort of fluid is that it turns cast iron dust into an abrasive slurry or paste which quickly rounds off the sharp corner of the cutting tool. Which is why it's always machined dry in shops which do a lot of cast iron work.

Man these guys must have the worst boogers and black lung butter. This is a place that should have masks.
