Despite his actions and motives, Grubba did respect the art of wrestling and anyone who gave him a good fight. He was complimenting us during the fight after all. He loved the sport, glamor, and thrills that came with wrestling. That to me felt like Grubba's real self before he became powerhungry and wanted to relive his glory days in immortality. Sure he was draining people, but his love for the sport was genuine.

he's been a fair business man in general, as long as you performed and did not snoop around you had nothing to worry, Mush got behind his secret. The bandit been snooping around mostly, the other 2 were to nosey or wanted to leave the pit. Grubba paid fair for each match too, jolene kept his payment policy when she took over. He was just too proud of himself to submit to aging and losing shape.

I just realized something cool, what if the reason Grubba can buff himself so much is because he gets some of his powers from the Gold Star which gives Mario power lift

Yeah, it’s a fun detail that the Gold Star gives Mario an ability that also relates to Grubba! I do wish that some of the other Stars implemented something like that, like Doopliss using the Ruby Star you “collected” in the chapter fakeout ending to use Art Attack on you Obviously wouldn’t work with all the bosses like Magnus Von Grapple since Crump is a meatheaded goon who probably wouldn’t figure out how to use Clock Out, or Cortez who doesn’t care about the Sapphire Star, or the Smorgs who aren’t actually guarding the Crystal Star at all

@@JunoSongs I always thought the Crystal Stars' powers did relate to the chapters in some form, albeit a bit of a stretch, and likely linked to me playing the game for 20 years. Diamond- Earth Tremor. Because of Hooktail's gargantuan size and could shake the ground with her roars. Emerald- Clock Out. You had a time limit to get after Crump before the bomb exploded. Gold- Power Lift. As described by @somerandomgamer9065, Macho Grubba getting a massive boost. Ruby- Art Attack. That one I can't find a connection. Sapphire- Sweet Feast. A massive heal that can be feel great, like finding a massive pile of treasure. (Bit of a stretch) Garnet- Show Stopper. The enemies trying to stop the train. Crystal- Supernova. While not linked to the chapter, is a screen nuke that does 15 damage... EXACTLY like the Shadow Queen's most powerful attack.

Doopliss seemed invincible as long as no one knew his name, and Crump didn't seem like much of a threat and likely wouldn't have gotten anywhere without Mario's help, since Flavio was nearly useless except for his little hint song, the Poshville one being fake would likely become known and the place searched again. Would someone else have discovered the "cursed" chests and get the paper powers? Crump turning sideways in Hooktail's castle? That place would have actually been easy for the X-nauts to conqure had they had the map already. I guess with enough numbers they could eventually take on Grubba too. But solving the mystery of Glitzville to get to that point and defeating an invincible dooplighost?

@@TMan5636 I have an idea for Art Attack! It kind of links to DooPliss, as DooPliss is shown with a TV, showing potential interest in creating some sort of watchable artform. This dream is realised by the end of the game as DooPliss ends up becoming an actor with Flurry. It could also be a link as to how all of the pranks done have some variety compared to something quick and artless. Turning people into pigs could probably be done faster, but it adds to the art that theres more time and a definitive RING of the bell whenever a character becomes a pig. The stealing of someones body is similar, instead of just outright using Mario's body and finding the fastest way to destroy his life, they instead spend time pretending to fill the shoes (although this could also be interpreted as DooPliss just wanting someone who actually cares about them, as they are stuck living in a tower and the two Shadows could of exploited this lack of care to get them to help out). While the explanation is kind of long, I wouldn't be surprised if DooPliss saw that theres an artform to pranking people, which there is if done right, and this idea of pranking an audience was translated into exploiting the emotions of an audience via stage plays instead. (Although this is kind of far-fetched and probably a coincidance, I like to think of this as the case)

Funny thing is (and I'm not sure if this was fixed in the remake) this is the only crystal star that has no lore tied to how it ended up here. Four of them were nearby the Cursed Chests (meaning the chest is Rogueport was connected to the star Grodus says he found in Rogueport, then there's Hooktail's, Cortez's, and Doopliss's), one was given to the Punies to guard, and one was rumored to be hidden somewhere no one could find it. That last one could be related to the Gold Crystal Star held by Macho Grubba, but I think it makes more sense for it to be the one in Poshley Heights (also, research hints that the Japanese version of the game makes it more apparent saying that it was given to a priest I think?). This is the only Crystal Star that doesn't seem to have any lore connected to it's existence, unless there's something I missed.

I feel like Grubba could have funded a secret search for the crystal star after learning of the legend, but after finding out the gold star can empower him and grant youth, he ditched the idea of trying to get into the palace of shadow and just stayed in Glitzville to bask in the wealth the Glitz Pit brings him as well as draw in strong challengers to drain their strength.
