I love the Chieftains. Their music is really great. Though they seldom sing, tieir performance make me always me happiest. However there are only a few members alive, Matt Moloy and Kevin Coneff? Hope they live long...

My family are from Carlow and I grew up in London my dad had a drink and played armoured cars and tanks and guns my mam played the Chieftains- my mam understood don’t let them take away your roots - trouble comes and go but Ireland will be Ireland- the Invaders will go home in shame 🇮🇪

This is the very great The Chieftans who brought Irish music to the people of our world and who am I to disagree with the fact that they were the greatest's. Many ago years ago I was talking to a Greek man about music, I told him about the great Thn Lizzy, Horslips, Rory Gallager, The Doors, Bob Dylan, CCR and others then he asked me what I thought of The Chieftains, I began to give his a history lesson of the Chieftains of Ireland also my distant cousins The Tuatha Dé Danann and about The Land Of The Ever Young from way back in time, after listing to me this man said I did not that the Chieftains were so old, I have only got their most recent records, later I realised that he was talking about a band that I had never heard of before called The Chieftains. I also learned a great lesson on that day and loved their music ever time that time

While visiting Phoenix/Scottsdale I enjoyed a tour around the Musical Instrument Museum and came across the Irish exhibition which featured the Chieftains. Seeing photos of the group reminded me of my early school days attending Donore Avenue with Kevin Conneff as a class mate. I enjoy everything the Chieftains represent.

Bodhrán. Pronounced ‘bow-rawn’...some use the bow, as in bow and arrow - others use the bow from take a bow. I’m in the latter camp
