Thanks for promoting Machu Picchu. We still need more Americans there with 100 U$-Bills, Asian speed-travel-groups, selfies with lamas, lower hotel prices to attract more backpackers, bigger groups on the Inca-Trail, may-be helicopter-tours from Cuzco (why not?), or we wait until the Chinese copy the whole landscape for local travellers in China. Tourism is so wonderful today.

Published 2015! I can see no mention of Vistadome? Was it too early for this? I travelled there with it in April 2018 and would highly recommend it, It was fabulous. Else I enjoyed your effort and could not say less about the warning regarding altitude sickness we were affected although warned about but since it was an organised trip we landed at Cusco then went to M P I wish we had acclimatisation before as you described it at a lower altitude. I wish also you'd included a little scenic of Aguas Calientes I loved so much too. Many of your tips did not apply to us. But I'm sure it would help many. And I'm amazed about these town losing electric power, had no idea about this! Have you thought of updating this presentation?

I just recently went to Machu Picchu. We went with nothing planed. we stayed in Cusco for 2 days and walked around the city and then we took a tour that took us to Chichero, Maras, and moray. we didn't do the full tour because we wanted to get to machu picchu so they dropped us off in Ollantambo where we went directly to the train stations and asked about tickets. since my friend is Peruvian she couldn't ride Peru rail until a certain time. we went across the street to Inca rail and they hooked us up! a little more expensive but they were so nice and helpful. we go to Aguascalientes and found a room easily. I would have liked to spent a day more in Aguascalientes just because the town is so neat. make sure when you buy your machu picchu ticket that they put the correct entry date on them ours were wrong but they allowed us to enter anyways.

On a budget. Iima - Ica - Ariquippa - Cusco. Buy an Inca Trek (not Inca Trail-unless you are lucky enough to pre-book). Mountain biking, 3 days trekking, party night, zip line option. Trek to Aqua Calliente - Get up at about 3am and walk up to Machu before the tour buses arrive - get in and watch the sunrise before the hoards appear. Get bus back down or walk. Then train back to Cusco. You need to be semi fit though.

Very good tip to travel to Macchu Picchu .just lwant to telling to everybody that one envolope of mate de coca is a stimulant for not to have paint in the stomach.and when you travel andyou eat in so many different places is necesary to buy a box with 20 envolopes for all the family .and i want to make clear that mate is not cocaine .is far from that .when is cocaine they put clorox to be white and they process even with other ingredient but the leaves itself and to make infusion with hot water is a blessing by nature and people dont die from .but the devils who process that plant with clorox they die early with heart attack or with there liver destroy when they sleep. So many people dont know what is the different and the leave itself is not poising

So ultimately, would you consider just buying a ticket to stay in Cusco and booking a tour locally, or purchase a tour guide from home?

How much money average do you suggest I bring for daily? I would be going early July....the travel package includes breakfast and about 3 lunches for a weeks stay.
@FrostElement7 жыл бұрын
Alejandra Lowe this is a very tough question. In cusco I would have about $100 per day to be safe and this would cover 2 meals, entry to some attractions. If you like the finer things I would bring $200 per day, nice meals, VIP service, tips and gift shops, souvenirs. It depends on your style of travel, number of people, activities, types of restaurants. I hope this helps. I was being very generous with my numbers above as I go by 'bring more $ just in case'

Hello. Thank you for posting this very informative video. I am planning on visiting Machu Pichu next year and my mom really wants to go, however, she had an extremely hard time walking. Do you think this entire trip would be ok for a person with limited mobility??? Or is there a lot of walking, hiking, etc?
@FrostElement6 жыл бұрын
There is a lot of walking and hiking especially once you arrive in aguas calientes as there is no public transportation. also once you are in macho picchu there are many stairs to climb in order to get around. I am not sure of you mom's capacity to mobilize. if she is overall able to walk but needs frequent breaks she may be ok with assistance. I did see many elderly people using canes and taking frequent breaks. I think she will be inspired and may find the strength to see such a beautiful place. good luck
