I think siege has just gotten to a point where people are so good at the game that it mostly comes down to who has the better gun skill. It’s always been like that but people didn’t know all the strats and counters for them. Now people know almost every strat and how to counter it.

I do remember the old days of R6S when Thermite was a must pick to open giant kill holes and pathways to enter site. Definitely challenging if the team doesn't work together well to protect Thermite.

I haven't really played since Operation Steelwave either (about 4 years ago) and it seems like some of them got nerfed pretty hard. With the OG Frost traps, it should have been GG for Macie at 9:30.

They're not bad, but some of them have been diluted as new ops are added that cannibalize parts of the originals. Thatcher, notably, now only has a particularly strong version of a secondary gadget, turning him from a necessity into a convenience. Kali also fills his role while being able to break important things. Sledge is fine, but if all you were going to do with his hammer is open the ceiling, we have Ram and Buck. Twitch drones have been shoved into a niche now that we have Flores for destruction and Kludge drones having a higher reward for most gadgets. Aruni stole a tiny bit of Castle's thunder, but obviously they're quite different in practice. Aruni and Wamai took over some of Jager's responsibility. You might pick Solis now where you would have taken Pulse. Goyo and Smoke. Kali and Glaz. Etc. Not everyone though. IQ notoriously gets a "buff" every time a defender with electronics gets added. Monty is still quite unique. Year 0 ops are still pretty good picks. They're just not ubiquitous.
