I like what he said about the power management makes it impossible to damage a engine. Seen many drivers over rev older trucks.

I now have a few mp8s. 13 speed and 330 gears I have a 5ek cat 475 hp 13 speed and 390 gears Also have a 6nz 550 hp 18 speed and 355 gears There is a hill we climb from a rolling start. Couldn't tell you the percentage. It's 3 miles long. The 5ek tops it at 55 mph. The MP8s get there at 65 mph. The 6nz gets there at 66. But the MP8s are getting way better milage than the cats.

I think it is very bad when you see an article like this and at 48 seconds into it we see you throwing trash on to the Highway. Truckies have a bad enough perception with the public now. But it is worse when industry Leaders show this behavior on the small screen as well!

lostozzie - thank you very much for bringing this issue to our attention. We took it very seriously, as did Jim Park himself. While insisting he would never do such a thing, after reviewing the video Jim realized that the evidence against him was very compelling. He insisted we use all the resources at our disposal to investigate so that his good name could be cleared, or - if found guilty - do his penance. The resulting investigation has been documented in this short video. I invite you to view the evidence and see for yourself - GUILTY or INNOCENT??? kzbin.info/www/bejne/gKbLlWWDoMRgrNE

Thank you so much for proving me incorrect on this! Jim you have proven you are a class act and an industry leader and my hat is off to you on the professional way that you showed us that I was incorrect! You have kept a positive image out there for truckies / truckers! Cheers Mate!

kzbin.info/www/bejne/l4OZd6Kfrpd6n5o Yeah, is true, but here' always the 16Liter volvo's crush the 13 liter, even if they both have 540 hp, bigger engines with lower rating tend to be more economic, last longer, and they consume less becauuse they produce less heat from lowerpressures, in 15liter, most of the energy gets disipated in the crankshaft interntia instead of becoming heat like in 15 liter.

1:13 not quite more than tripled the hp of the thermodyne, 170 hp x 3 is 510 hp - 1:50 yes its torque that gets you up the hill, power is torque x engine speed, so high torque at low rpm means a lot of power at low rpm. If an engine cranks out 1000 lb-ft at 1100 rpm, another 1200 lb-ft at same 1100 rpm than the second engine delivers 20% more power at that rpm. Another example: Lets say an engine has a constant torque of 1400 lb-ft from 1000 to 1500 rpm, then this engine has 50% more power output at 1500 rpm than it has at 1000 rpm - this is how torque, rpm and hp correlate. Most commonly big displacement engines have more torque at low rpm, meaning they have more power at low rpm, stronger engine brake, and a higher tractive effort on starting, significantly important when you have to start uphill with 138 K lbs GCW . Here in Europe, trucks commonly have around 11 litres displacement and 400 to 450 hp to haul 40 metric tons GCW at (governed) 85 kph, but 505 hp and 62.5 metric tons at 60 mph in the mountains?

Anyway, the 16 liter volvo is a nasty, angry, fuel sucker, angry piece of an engine, it's pulls like nothing, it haves a bigger bore/stroke ratio than a Cummins or a Iveco, and it also consumes a lot, 6mpg at 55mph with 100.000lb
