Hi never fished Budleigh area when is the best time to fish for mackerel and what is bottom fishing 🎣 like please thanks in advance
@TedGreenBeachFishing3 жыл бұрын
Calm weather, clear water and in the evening over dusk for Mackerel, still worth a go if the water is a little coloured. Bottom fishing is when the bait is on the sea bed as opposed to float fishing when the bait is suspended in the water column 👍

Hi, I'm new to your great vids, listening in on you catching is really good. What was the model of lure you were using, the choice is a bit bewildering me being new to lure fishing and all. Tight lines, Mick.
@TedGreenBeachFishing4 жыл бұрын
Mick and Diana Tafft thanks, I was using a few different metal lures but a good lure to start out with is the 'dexter wedge' as you will catch most fish on that, it will come with a treble hook, so it's best practice to crush the barbs with a pair of pliers as this will be easier to unhook the fish. Another good lure is the 'HTO shore jig' in silver, both these lures imitate the small bait fish that are swimming around that fish feed on especially in the summer months, mackerel and Bass. You'll want to buy the lures in the middle of your rods casting range, i.e. 4 - 16 grams then get a 10 gram lure or 0.5 - 7 gram then either a 3 or 5 gram lure. 👍

Thanks. Depends on what type of fishing you want to do, your best bet is to go to your local tackle shop and have a chat with them to start with, also check out the beginning beach fishing play list on the Totally Awesome Fishing Show KZbin channel. 👍

Hi great videos liked and subbed I’m travelling down to East Devon tomorrow staying at branscombe hoping to have a go for mackerel off the beach using lures any tips for success kind regards
@TedGreenBeachFishing4 жыл бұрын
David Smith thanks, I use metal's when lure fishing for Mackerel, Scad, Gurnard's etc. anything that looks like the fry they are feeding on works, either the cheap dexter wedges or more expensive jigpara lures. Evening's going into dusk and dawn are the best time to try and when the water is calm and clear, I've still caught when it's been choppy and coloured water too. After casting let the lure to sink as that's when I've had most of my takes, then just a simple draw and twitch. 👍
@Kernow-lerf4 жыл бұрын
East Devon Beach Fishing UK I can’t wait to try I’ve been light lure fishing rivers canals etc for last 2 years so trying on the beach will be new challenge My son would love a go at LRF but I don’t know East Devon at all so wouldn’t know where to take my son to rock fish
@TedGreenBeachFishing4 жыл бұрын
David Smith You can LRF at Beer, on the east side there is a small hard standing you can fish off, Exmouth harbour car park is good for all sorts using a simple drop shot rig. (make sure you pay to park within 5 minutes, otherwise you'll get a fine through the post. Same goes for Branscombe beach car park) Fish Exmouth at high tide over slack water, spring tides this week so the water will be ripping through. Budleigh beach using metal's but the best place to LRF is Brixham harbour and breakwater or Plymouth around Sutton harbour 👍

Very enjoyable watch. Do you ever fish the other end of the beach by the river Mouth and car park?
@TedGreenBeachFishing5 жыл бұрын
Ken Dodge thanks, yes I do fish the other end but not so much during the summer as it's a bit busy, I'll lure and bait fish from the rocks and bait fish in front of the car park on a high spring tide, 👍

Great video what time of year do the mackerel start coming into Budleigh? Do surface lures work for the Bass also? I'm down in Devon with work so looking for places to fish
@TedGreenBeachFishing Жыл бұрын
Thanks. From now onwards for the Mackerel, if it's calm weather over dusk or dawn. Always still worth having a go if the water is coloured, which can be a problem with Budleigh. I'll use top water lures fishing over the reef area near the Otter mouth, Sidmouth over the rocks at the ladder end, Exmouth slipway and Mear rocks for Bass.

@TedGreenBeachFishing4 жыл бұрын
Tony Grey I've bait fished at Sand Bay for Flounder and Bass but don't really bother till the autumn and early winter as it can get a bit weedy in the summer months, always worth a go for Bass especially if the sea is a bit choppy.

SurreyDan thanks. I was using a 0.5-5 gram rod, 1000 size reel, 5lb braid, with about a foot of 4lb fluorocarbon and either a 3 or 5 gram metal lure, the other rod was 4-16 gram, 1500 reel, 12lb nanofil line, a foot of 10lb fluorocarbon leader and using 10 gram metal lures. Cast out and allow the lure to sink through the water column then wind in with a few small jerks and pauses. 👍

Hiya bud! Loving the content, im staying at a caravan site near from budleigh beach and i have give budleigh a go using a 4oz lure but i find it quite hefty at times against the rocks. Anything you could advise? im thinking of moving to lugworm?
@TedGreenBeachFishing3 жыл бұрын
4oz lure? I use 10 or 15 gram metal lures as they are the size of the bait fish that the Mackerel are feeding on, wind in fast as your getting closer to the waters edge as you'll snag up on the pebbles (aka Budleigh Buns). If fishing over the rocks at the river end, I'll use weedles lures from 15 to 20 gram for the Bass and Wrasse. Worm baits are ideal this time of year for the Gunards but can be stripped quickly due to the Hermits and Spider crabs. 👍

What waders can you advise that i can use when i do fishing in beaches?
@TedGreenBeachFishing4 жыл бұрын
Raymund Picart depends on your budget and what you'll be using them for, open surf beaches, storm beaches, rock marks, estuaries, lure fishing etc. I use IMAX heavy duty chest waders for most of my fishing, also a pair of VASS thigh waders, wellington boots or a pair of walking boots, just depends on the ground that I'm fishing from, the walk in to the fish mark and weather conditions.

What length is your LRF rod and how far do you cast out for the Mackeral ?
@TedGreenBeachFishing4 жыл бұрын
Vim I was using a 7'3" 0.5. - 5 gram rod and a 7'6" 4 - 16 gram rod, the Mackerel can be 10 feet in front of you sometimes, especially if they are chasing the bait fish that will beach themselves to avoid being eaten. A good cast of about 30 meters or so should be okay from the beach, most of my hook ups are when I've just cast out and allowed the lure to drop through the water before starting the retrieve.
