“Let´s face it, Vaporwave has become extremly repetitive over the last years. We all yearn for that first experience with MACプラス (Macintosh Plus) seminal "Floral Shoppe". The pure sample compositons, consisting of hybnotic layers of the same sound so familiar from infomertials all the way to the radio. It was the beginning of internet music in the mainstream, and brought a whole community together.
Luckily MACマイナス has made this amazing tribute to the classic album, working with the samme feel and flow of the album, reinterpreting the structures of songs with new samples and rebuilding an "update" for the timeless classic. It feels fresh and familiar at the same time. A nice change of pace for the future funk flooded market.
The physical release on cassette was not without its controveries though, like the vinyl release of floral shoppe. The album was originally published on tracking waves, a US based label, with a preorder for a similar looking cassette (www.discogs.co.... Only a few of these were ever produced, and a lot of people did´nt receive their orders. Luckily UK based label Aloe City Records stepped in and offered a short run production of the album, this time with a full on body printing which mirrors the design of the original floral shoppe cassette, and offered a free copy for everyone that did not receive their order from tracking waves (with sales going to fund the production). I was one of the people who got a copy and can´t say I would have waited for tracking waves to deliver. Packaging is stellar, sound nostalgic and my itch to own this has been scratched!

Q: Why did you upload a terrible sounding copy?
A: Since this is an archive of MY collection, i believe i should preserve everything (even the flaws). If you are looking for a place for high fidelity “audiophile” clean recordings, this channel is not it. I clean my records thoroughly before making a video.
Q: Can you upload [insert album]?
A: I upload what i have, and what i deem worth uploading. This excludes widly known records (Beatles as an eksample) and releases from huge labels that i evaluate as too risky for copyright reasons.
Q: Can i see what’s in your collection?
A: Sure!

Q: What are the recording specs?
A: All audio is recorded via a Presonus USB 96 soundcard from a Technics RS-TR 373 Mark II to my Macbook Pro (2016) via Ableton. Audio is 192khz 24bit uncompressed wav. Video runs at 60fps with a 1080p resolution and has no audio.
Video editing is in Imovie and recorded with an Iphone 8.
Q: Are any of your recordings edited?
A: No. I do adjust volume if necessary but other then that the recordings are 100% unedited.
