Gary, you are fantastic, thanks a million!!! After 22 yrs on Windows I have just made the transition to Mac. What made things worse was being a tekkie I was familiar with the deep layers of Windows and its substructure. I was somewhat lost on the basics coming over to the MacOS. Despite Apple's enormous intelligence I found it does a very poor job of assistance in migration / introduction. If you search the apple database you find tiny bits and pieces of the knowledge you need. You done a superb job in understand, assembling, and presenting the solutions so many users need. Apple could really learn a thing or two from you. But I hope they don't, because we don't want you to ever leave us.

Thanks for the video, helped a lot understanding the file structure of the Mac. Like the apartment analogy too.. I have a big problem with how photo files are stored though. Bringing thousands of images over from my PC the Mac changed the creation date so say a group of photos taken in March 2009 are re-dated as created Feb 2021, the date I brought brought them over to the Mac. If I want to view photos from 2009 I’d find them randomly in 2021 in the app photos, pretty useless.. is there a trick to go back to original creation date?
@macmost2 жыл бұрын
Are you looking at them in the Finder or in a Photo Management app like Photos? The file creation date doesn't reflect the photo metadata. Open a photo in Preview and look at the EXIF info for the photo and you'll see it knows the real date. The file is the container, the photo is inside.
