Thanks for the video. Is there a way for the app not to remember a timer? I'd like it to apply only to one photo and not be remembered for others.
@macmostАй бұрын
No, you'd need to just turn it off after using it.

#6 is my absolute favorite. my default aspect ratio for photos is 1:1, and with this way of shooting videos, it uses the current aspect ratio of the photos instead of the normal video aspect ratio! So i get a 1:1 video out of the box and don't have to crop it afterwards! Thank you so much for that 👍

Excellent as usual, Apple seem to not realise that most people hold their phone vertically. I kept accidentally operating the camera control button. Had to resort to switching off camera control. Is there a software solution to switch this on or off rather than going into settings 🤔

I wish you could rearrange the camera modes and icons on the bottom. I use the timer a lot to help steady the shot and having it available quicker would be nice.

Thanks ... perfect timing! Someone just used my phone to take a photo and it accidentally went to Portrait mode. But the background was important to the scene and I did not want it to be blurred. With your video, I was able to correct it and have the whole photo in focus.

Discovered yesterday at family-calling time (year end holidays) that on FaceTime when you have two people calling, if one person moves out of the frame, the phone camera immediately adjusts the picture to zoom in on the remaining person and fill the screen. That’s a very long sentence! Sorry. But it’s small pleasures and discoveries that are the most fun. Thanks for all you do, Gary, here and on the Patreon platform. (Apologies if I’ve missed the episode where you showed us this FaceTime trick. I’m running as fast as I can but yet can’t absorb everything. You are prolific!)

That's called Center Stage and has been around for a while. I mention it in some videos, but the only one I did specifically covering it was on Patreon: showing how to manually move the camera center. macmost.com/using-center-stage-with-manual-controls.html

TIP 1. Apple Stores offer FREE iPhone photography classes. I went and learned a ton! With Apple you're supported. We had a fun time at the class and met people, they even allowed dogs inside, we got to meet Javier and pet him and learned amazing things how to take photos!

Thank you again, and again I have learned a lot new things. I live in the Netherlands and some of the apps don’t do the things you showed to us. But I now have the solution. I change my location to United States and the language to “English” and everything worked again. For example the photo app you showed that they had an “info” where you can learn about things, and in the reminders app there are 3 lists, one with “Grocery’s” we don’t have that in the Netherlands. Hope to learn a lot more. Thanks!

@josephfarrugia2350Ай бұрын
pity it only works on iPhone 15 and later, no support for older phones (why Apple? It should work easily on older phones, as do similar 3rd party apps)

True. An alternative that's very powerful is the free Blackmagic Cam app. I haven't tried it on older iPhones but it may work on them.

Hi Gary, may i ask ? Do you know how to take a full screen photo ? By default the photo is 4:3 aspect ratio but even if i change it to 16:9 the photo still not display in full screen
@macmostАй бұрын
Not sure what your goal is. You wouldn't normally want to take a photo that is the same height/width ratio as your iPhone. What does the screen ratio of your iPhone have to do with the scene you are photographing?
@GregMcMillanАй бұрын
The iPhone camera doesn’t take a photo that’s full screen. You will see black bars at the sides of a 16:9 photo because the screen is wider than 16:9 when holding the phone horizontally.
@macmostАй бұрын
@@GregMcMillan Right. Most photos are not the width/height ratio of a specific model of iPhone. Why would they be? And why would you want to have a photo that happens to match the ratio of the screen of the iPhone you have at the moment? What's your goal here? Why do you want it exactly that size? Seems arbitrary.
@Edwardz_cАй бұрын
@@macmost ahh i see, nothing in particular but i just think the photo looks better if it covers all the screen, Android phone does this. But it’s okay, thank you so much for the explanation Gary !
@Edwardz_cАй бұрын
@@GregMcMillan yes that makes sense sir, i just think photo looks better if it covers all the screen without the black bars because Android does this. Thank you for the explanation sir !

My biggest frustration is not being able to deactivate the LIVE Phone feature without jumping through many hoops. I hate that feature on camera.
@macmostАй бұрын
Many hoops? It is ONE tap. Just tap the Live Photo icon on the camera screen. Toggles it on and off.
@peterwilliams2889Ай бұрын
You can shut it off in the camera menu (I think)

It's impossible to learn all of the iPhone's features at first. After a while you get locked into using a set of features and it's nearly impossible to learn new ones because you're spending your time just using the phone. Gary's videos raise the curtain on features that were there all along so you can learn new things. It's almost like getting a new phone.
