It’s end of Jan 24, it’s sunny, it’s 6.5 degrees and it’s dry. I don’t have a heated jacket so I’m popping toast and sipping coffee 😢

I've been a Warm'n'Safe liner user for a while now and it's a must in winter. It draws to much current for a 12v plug, but even on my 1250GSA it's easy to plug into the battery and run the fly lead up the inside of the frame and just below the seat. Things like the heat-rollers from warm'n'safe do look and feel a little industrial I guess, but you can't argue with the heat output. Collar, arms, chest, back including kidney area are super toasty, I just ride in a base layer, and my warm'n'safe. This Macna does look like its a really convenient and easy to use bit of kit, and I for one would not be without my heated gear in winter, and I'm a rufty tufty ex squaddie :). Also for the first time ever I tried the Motolegends price beat service, on some Klim Adventure boots and they came up trumps, they beat the deal I had by a full 10%. So far I've found motolegends to be one of the most trustworthy retailers out there when it comes to bike gear, and when tested, they come good on the promises. Fantastic service.

If you have Denali CANSmart or HexEzCAN, you could do away with the heat trollers altogether. I control my warm safe liner thru the heated grips menu.

Looks a nice bit of kit for those wanting a heated jacket. I use Merino wool base layers and my rukka gear. Job done. I've got heated grips though..as you get older you need these little extras. 👍

Macna is releasing a new heated jacket with some insulation. I think that's a really good idea honestly. I have this Macna Centre jacket and I love how much it heats but it's not very comfortable to wear under a motorcycle jacket because of the non slippery soft shell material. If you ride in winter you will also need another insulating layer over it as well to be really comfortable. The material they choose for this imo is not good and way too bulky and non slippery, so it ends up feeling restrictive, too me at least. The new jacket should solve that hopefully.
@nickb82262 жыл бұрын
I hope so, the new one is a down jacket and I have just order one with a nice discount. I really curious about how this will work on my daily winter computing bike.
@gbner99912 жыл бұрын
@@nickb8226 please update me on the jacket, I am also considering it. I switched to a heated base layer which I prefer right now. I don't like how the Macna gear you have to turn on everytime you stop or disconnect, always annoyed me but maybe the solved that as well with some kind of dongle apparently.
@nickb82262 жыл бұрын
@@gbner9991 yes let we hope for that! Maybe they have build in something that the jacket keep his latest heating setting. When the jacket is delivered I will try it asap. 👍
@ukuserful Жыл бұрын
There is actually some merit to having a heated jacket which is not too warm on its own, with the electric panels switched off, as that would allow you the flexibility of riding in changing weather conditions while remaining comfortable. A heated down jacket might be too warm in some circumstances.
@ukuserful Жыл бұрын
@gbner9991 Do you mean the Macna Centre jacket is not warm enough on its own, when it's switched off, or that it is too thick and bulky under a motorcycle jacket? Or both? Have you compared how thick and bulky the macna centre is vs the Warm & Safe?
@ukuserful Жыл бұрын
Between the Warm & Safe and this Macna Centre jacket, which would you say is thinner and easier to wear under a motorcycle jacket without creating too much bulk? How about warmth when the electric panels are switched off, are the two jackets comparable?

do you have to pick 1 size smaller than usual, so it fits snuggly under your jacket?

I would go with the size you wear for a fit t-shirt, Macna jackets are quite true to the size.

Excellent stuff Chris apart from perpetuating the myth that a warm core keeps extremities warm.
@Motolegends3 жыл бұрын
Fair enough. Keeping the core warm promotes good blood flow, so I am told. But yes, your fingers, toes and so on can still get bloody cold!
@Dylzhaar3 жыл бұрын
@@Motolegends more heat escapes out through the head, fingers and toes than anywhere else on the body so you'll feel colder if you heat/insulate your core rather than your extremities. I remember Brainiac did an practical experiment to show these effects over a decade ago

Hi , can you show us where the heated panels are placed. Do they have any on arms? Also, how does it compare to the competition? Also, when you say thin, will it fit under another jacket . Demo?
@Motolegends3 жыл бұрын
This does show in the video. It's all the silver bits. So down the arms, on the back and the chest. Yes it is designed to fit under another jacket. If your jacket has a zip out thermal or room for a mid-layer then there is room for this jacket.

There’s a pretty comprehensive size guide on our website. The jacket has some stretch in, so you can err on the smaller side. Certainly you’d only wear a base layer underneath it, although you could wear a shirt. For reference I am 5ft. 9ins and don’t have a big tummy. I wear it in Medium. CP.

If you were to supply a fitting service, at a charge of say £40 or whatever is financially viable for you I think more people would buy heated gear. I think the main barrier of entry into heated gear for any riser who rides all year round is the installation of the wires and all. Its a tremendously impactful barrier of entry. Also make sure there are less options available... The same way that almost everyone who has non OEM heater grips uses Oxford heated grips... Give customers one or two heated brands and no more.

If you purchase this heated clothing for our Motolegends Shop we will always help setting everything up (cables) in our clothing. The only thing you will have to do is to connect the power cable to the battery of your bike.
@humoto13 жыл бұрын
Instead of connecting to the bike´s battery one should simply be able to connect to a long lasting power bank sitting in the jacket´s pocket... - - does that work?
@craigmckay13703 жыл бұрын
Macna appear to offer a range of 12 and 7.4 volt Macna Klan batteries that can be used with Jacket, trousers, gloves and socks along with various leads to connect them together or directly to the battery of the bike.

Thanks for the video, if you want the full benefit of Macna heated clothing, firstly the fit should be snug, secondly use protection to compress the heated clothing against the body, so essentially instead of using back and chest protection inserts, use for example a full length backprotector and chest protector with straps and belt. Aplinestars makes such a combination. When worn this provides compression and you will really feel the heat, even at level one, I cant imagine level four likelt to burn your skin. Finally using a jacket or touring suit with compression buttons or straps and a snug fitting neck gaiter.

Having spent the last 50yrs trying to keep warm and dry on a motorbike, (stopping at service stations trying to warm and dry gloves under the hand dryers etc on winter rides 🥶) I’m a total convert to heated gear. I wear a Keis jacket (plus plug in liner gloves in winter) it acts as a smart casual jacket under my BMW GS jacket for when I’m off the bike and I don’t have to wear jumpers etc to keep warm, just click to the appropriate heat setting on my ‘electric blanket’ as required 😊…. I also agree totally with you on the safety aspect of being warm and dry. I can ride across the country in warm comfort whatever the weather and remain focussed on my riding 👍

5 minutes into the video and I lost interest. Looks a nice jacket and I was thinking about moving on from my Warm & Safe, but then you talk about the controller. Not for me. When I am out my phone is away out of reach. and definitely not on my handlebars. Having a discrete controller works, no unlocking of the phone with gloves required, or menus / screens to scroll through.

Fine for you, but a lot of riders have their phones mounted on the bike to use as a satnav and so on. For these people, the Macna will work particularly well; and of course they’ll save the cost of the controller. Just not for you, I suppose. CP
