a great lesson! so clear about each step! Q though, the cords are tied together only on the first section of the leaf, is there a reason they are not tied on the next rows before the new cord is added? planning to use this leaf in a micromacrame bracelet, I think tying that knot would add strength to the shape in an item that is going to be worn...

what kind of thread we can use it

I notice no one has replied, you can use anything that is flexible enough to tie a knot but various materials will have different results depending on the purpose of your macrame. Polyester cords will slip more but wear better, the are available in many thickness and a world of colors, cotton will hold the knots but will be damaged faster out of doors or if worked into jewelry and it gets wet, cotton wears out faster, think, the friendship bracelet you are supposed to wear until it falls apart (a weird symbolism). In the 60's my favorite was waxed cotton or linen, they behave well, stay in place and look so nice and natural and are more resistant to liquids, but, more difficult to "pick" knots apart if you find you have made a mistake. When you change thickness of cords, the length required will vary so, you may waste cord or run short... there may be calculations for how much cord or, tie a few knots and then do a guess-timate. But, as I said, almost any thing like a cord, thread or yarn, embroidery threads... (can be beautiful but a pain to work with, they like to separate into threads) will work with various results... the fun of macrame, play with it, cord is relatively cheap ;-) and, ask crafting friends for scraps of materials they have used to try, crafters always have materials left over from one-time projects
