Macro Extension Tubes, on Nikon Z5 & Z50 + FTZ Adapter

Playing with a couple of the Meike extension tubes built for the Nikon Z cameras. I try them on the Nikon Z5 with the 40mm f2 lens. I then put them on my Nikon Z50 with the 16-50mm kit lens, and finally I mount the FTZ adapter and an F mount 35mm f1.8g crop sensor lens onto the Nikon Z50 to see if they can be used with the Meike macro extension tubes. No surprises everything works nicely.
The Meike extension tubes are very nice, work perfectly and even have a weather sealing gasket.
Extension tubes are obviously not as versatile as a macro lens, but they do offer the opportunity to try macro photography without the expense of purchasing a macro lens.

@@focusphotonsfrugally6644 I have the Fotodiox reverse mount on they way, I‘ll probably later try combine it with the extensions… Do you have any experience with reversals on the FTZ?

@@mairinger80 I don't have any experience of them unfortunately. I can't foresee any reason why it wouldn't work with the ftz adapter. Would be interested to know your experience with them.

@@focusphotonsfrugally6644 just reporting back to share that in the end I went for a set of Meike F-mount extension tubes, to use with the FTZ and also a reversal ring, all works fine.

Some cool new gear and shots! 😁 any plans of using it in the woods like for mushrooms and leaves? Or maybe some insect macro later on. Great to see you experimenting with other genres of photography too and enjoying it.

Thank you, yep planning on some mushroom stuff for next autumn and some woodland spring flowers in a few months time. Would like to do some insects if they will stay still for long enough. Experimenting is good. It’s just amazes me how different genres of photography require completely different skills.
