These are truly amazing figures. I have Yamato's Destroid Tomahawk and despite being a non-transforming mecha, the quality and attention to detail is on par with the VF's. It's a hard call to make but I SLIGHTLY like the G1 Jetfire you reviewed way back more than this. Those old-school Takatoku molds just have so much charm. I also want to point out to other viewers that Hikaru's VF-1S is on sale at HLJ. I think it has the same mold/accessories but it has red paint apps instead of yellow.

I have one of the older Bandai ones from 1990. The newer ones like the one you have has much greater articulation than the one I got, but at the same time the Yamato ones look more delicate to handle.

0:43 There comes turbin again. Turbine is at the end of the hot section, not the front of the cold section. Looks like that FF-2001 thermonuclear reaction turbine engine is not a high bypass engine, so that should be the compressor rather than fan, let alone turbine.

Just for the record a third version has recently been released with the Pilot Hikaru Ichijo, Rick Hunter. Coz later in the Anime he gets to pilot this VF-1S. So naturally that means Yamato has to release a completely new version and swap the pilot figure! XD Really enjoyed this series of videos! Macross needs more love! =D

The size is a bit of a bummer, but then you can get figures like the YF-19/21 or the VF-0S that has a height closer(Battroid at least) to the PG kits. Hope you review Yamato's YF-19 or the 1/24 Paltabor Ingram 1(really needs someone to actually review it...) someday.

The lateral rotation of the hip joints is still very limited though. I know it's due to the design with the air intakes jamming into the sides of the nosecone, but it means a true wide stance is still very much impossible. Unless you'd fake a wide stance by flaring out the lower legs by means of the knee swivel. Ironically, the smaller Bandai hi metal VF1's got better hip articulation and its knees can do 90 degrees.

Thanks, very nice review. Quite tall for a 1/60 scale model; am guessing your VF-1S about more than 21 cm. I think you scarred the inner finish of your intakes when you pried the intake covers off. Thanks again!

I bought a 1/60 Transformable figure of the Valkyrie VF-1S a few years back from Yamato, and it was waaaaaay different from this one. For one thing, its box was different, it had no pilot figure, the cockpit cover with the skull insignia had to be clipped on, there were no extra hands, and transformation was a tedious chore at best. It was still made of sturdy plastic and die-cast parts, but the version you got is so much better. Is this a Yamato Ver. 2.0 of some sort?

just got 1/48 Hikiaru Ichijo at Macross World Expo 2013. I was thinking of panel lining the figure, might even see if I can add on some water slide decals. I've done a couple of gundam figures in the past so I was thinking of applying what I learned on this figure. What are your thoughts on this idea?

@vegeta8259 1/72 valkyrie is about the same size as 1/100 Gundam

If people were to build either a valkyrie or a mobile suit, the valkyrie would probably win out since it would probably far more economically sound.

I can't believe people think 1/72 is bigger than 1/60. The BIGGER the number AFTER the / the SMALLER the scale.
@soldier467014 жыл бұрын
@DestinyFreedom The bigger the number, the smaller the kit.
