Thank you for this. For some reason, I am having trouble with Xcode command line tools. I've even downloaded it straight from apple's developer page. I've tried numerous times and I get FALSE for the install. Gfortran is no problem. Any ideas what could be the problem here?

Could you provide more context? When you type in R: sessionInfo() What does it say?

After entering the command 'macrtools::macos_rtools_install()' I am receiving the following error "Timeout of 60 seconds was reached". This is related to the download of gfortran. Any suggestions?

I think this was an issue that was resolved over on the project's GitHub page: github.com/coatless-mac/macrtools/issues/16 The short rundown: there was either an internet connection hiccup or CRAN's servers briefly were updated during the time the installer tried to download gfortran.

Thanks for doing this for us. But I am having trouble with installing gfortran. When I used the code "macrtools::gfortran_install()", It shows "R version Error in cat("R version", getRversion(), "is not supported. Please upgrade. ") : argument 2 (type 'list') cannot be handled by 'cat'". BTW my R version is R4.3.1

Ewk! That's not good. In the future, if you could add the issue directly in the project's bug tracker it could be resolved quicker. github.com/coatless-mac/macrtools/issues That said, I think the issue with `gfortran` was the version of macOS was newer than the version supported by the R package, e.g. macOS Sonoma (14.0.0). Could you try updating to the latest version of the package with: ``` install.packages("remotes") remotes::install_github("coatless-mac/macrtools") macrtools::macos_rtools_install() ```

I have the following error: Unable to install gfortran for arm64/aarch64... Official R support for arm64/aarch64 began in R 4.1 ... Please upgrade R ... But I'm using R.4.3.0...

Thanks for the comment. We fixed this about a week back thanks to a bug report on GitHub: github.com/coatless-mac/macrtools/issues/9 So, everything _should_ work for R 4.1 - 4.3 for arm64.

@@caterinacevallos9822 That's odd. Definitely feel free to share you configuration and open an issue ticket on the repository. But, from other testers, the latest version of the package solved the issue on ARM64 systems.
