That looks identical to the unit under my 22 FX4 Maverick! I did mine at 1k miles as a break in thing. Had just a bit of swarf present as you'd expect. Did it again at 10k and clean as a whistle. Just traded it at 19k for a new Explorer 4x4. So now I get to learn all about that version! Great presentation. Thank you! I do think you should have filled it til it overflowed the fill port though. Factory fill was short. Minimum spec to save money.

You had at least an ounce left in the tube so you're low on fluid in the ptu. ALWAYS fill until it drains a bit

Dumb question: Would this work better for a 2019 Ford Escape 2.0 PTU? Otherwise I'm just going to default to Redline 75w140. Thanks!

I own a 2012 Lincoln MKX AWD. RED LINE stated their 75x140 Gear Oil is best for our PTU. Superior to the Motorcraft stuff. Is your shockproof recommendation because it's a newer PTU? SEEM THE SAME OPERATION AND STRESS.

I have a 2020 2.0+L Edge with the same PTU as the 2019. This unit appears to be quite different from earlier models and uses a different fluid spec. Unless there's a known failure issue with the newer units, I can't see a reason to vary from the Ford lubricant spec. Could be warranty issues too should a unit failure occur....how would you explain the "blue" colored lubricant to the Ford dealer when they disassemble? Nice video on the "how to" process. Thanks for doing!. A suggestion for removing the fill plug if not enough room is to simply put an open-end wrench on the potion of the bit beyond the depth of the plug tool receiver. I had to do something like this to remove one of my RDU plugs that had no room to even get a ratchet in place to remove.

I have a 2019 edge titanium eco-boost with the 8F 35 transmission doing the buck jerk problem. I wanted to ask if you have any ideas on a long-term fix for this other than replacing the transmission which is what I’ve been told is the only choice, because I’m not sure how to replace the transmission fluid since there’s no dipstick thank you for any help

Bill, is this your new 2.0L Edge? It appears to be totally different than my 2016 2.0L. Mine has pipes, part of the turbo plumbing, blocking the drain plug. The PTU looks different also. Since you have the 2.0L from Spain I assume the PTU is also different.

MACT, doing my first PTU change on my 2011 Edge. It has not been done in 100, 000 miles, and I will likely run 2 fluid changes in short intervals (which Im not happy about). Will the Redline shock proof work in this model. I was under the impression that they ran 75W140 in the PTU. If I can't get it near me then I may have to use Royal Purple or something. Any thoughts? Thanks...by the way, I love your channel.

YOU DO NOT NEED Redline Shockproof Oil. A WASTE OF MONEY.. Normal Redline Syn Gear oil 75x140 oil does the trick. MacT is misinformed here. Call Redline lubricant experts for the facts. Our pristine 2012 MKX AWD @ 89K MILES, A PTU change was performed. EXTRACTED JUST BLACK OIL. NO goo here. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND ALL YOU GUYS NAIVELY DRILLING DRAIN HOLES DOING IT ALL YOURSELVES AND MAYBE DAMAGING YOUR PTU CASES NOW OR IN THE FUTURE. ALUMINUM STRSSES UNPERDICTALLY. YOU ALL ACT HELPLESS AS THOUGH THERE IS NO OTHER OPTION!! FACT THIS. THERE IS! I PATRONIZE MY LOCAL OILER WHO DOES OURS AND MANY OTHER PTU'S. EVEN YOUR EDGES. NO BIG THING. 15 MINS DONE. AND MY SUPER DUPER ANYTHING BREAKS EXTENDED LINCOLN WARRANTY IS NOT COMPROMISED. At Our FIRST PTU change drove 50 miles and had it done again. This time had fresh REDLINE Gear oil and 4oz. of Microlon one time Differential treatment added. WE LOVE Microlon. (microlon.com). At that same time treated any MKX metal-to-metal surfaces. The Power Steering, Cooling System, Transmission, Engine, A/C and the rear Differential. Nobody ever does the Differential or for that matter Brake Fluid. We do the B fluid annually. DIFFERENTIAL 70K miles. This is the 3rd vehicle we have Microlon treated with great trade-in ROI's. Our MKX is a dream machine now. @ 95K miles on the clock the linear acceleration is fluid with light throttle pressure. It is amazing. Smooth Ulra crisp Transmission shifts, Coolant Gauge runs 2 ticks lower. A/C runs 3° cooler and that loud compressor click we all hear is near silent. Whole engine compartment is so quiet now. Steering wheel turns effortlessly. Our Gas Mileage is up 11%. Regardless of all those self proclaimed auto expert idiots out there, Microlon is a fact proven 50 yr. old product. Mil-Spec rated and FAA approved and certified. As Scotty Kilmer says, 'Your stupid if you do not" in this case use Microlon One Time treatments. With my concern of the water pump and timing chain issues I feel better now as both sides, engine and coolant are treated. Regets you may ask? Should of treated @40k. Hopefully lower than mfg.recommended lubricant changes helped here with wear. Also use Microlon GUN JUICE. Treated my Competition rifle barrel. Gave me an incredible tighter grouping @ 950 yards. I even use the Microlon A/C treatment in our Samsung Fridge, our House A/C compressor and our house GENERAC nat gas backup generator. Now all ultra quiet they are.. WE use LIQUI MOLY LUBRICANT for the last 75K miles. Special TEC AA 5W20 syn oil in the engine preceeded every oil change with their Engine Flush. Liqui Moly MERCON LV in the PowerSteering. FORD coolant and FORD Mercon LV in the Transmission for warranty compliance. FORD plastics are horrid. License plate night light holders crumpled and left hanging @ 60K miles.. Replaced. Explored all incondesant bulbs that heat kill the plastic housings. Replaced everything interior/exterior light bulbs with high quality CANBUS Compliant LED'S. Even the Puddle Lights. An amazing 20 ft out and side lumination throw. My chrome plated drivers side door handle just broke off yesterday. Inside It's two thin layer inner outer handle adhesive tape strips and a tiny aft retaining screw. Luckily I'm warranty covered. I changed my oil cap and the factory original Radiator cap for the same. The Radiator cap was long overdue. This was fun. Hope this helps in maintaining and protecting your LINCOLN/FORD vehicles.
