Battery replacement on a 2019 Ford Edge. What is this red plug for?

The battery cover is for insulation from the engine high heat directly being absorbed by the battery plastic .just like the heat shields on the exhaust system around critical parts of the car

Just changed the battery on my 2022 Edge ST after watching this video. I replaced it with the Duralast platinum series, exact dimensions as the original, and i have a 3 year replacement warranty from any Autozone nationwide. The battery was 272 after tax.

I believe You should also reset BMS (battery management system) so it can learn that this is a new battery. I think I read somewhere that if you don't do it it can even damage new battery

Very similar to a 2015 with a 3.5 I changed mine without a backup battery, and all my presets, etc. remained intact.

Thanks for making this informative video. Watch some other videos, that were not helpful. Your video was spot on. With the information you offered I was able to get the battery changed. Once again the person that designed the battery layout has never had to work on a vehicle, that's broke down in the middle of nowhere.

I always thought that also even in the group they say to disconnect the negative first.

Ford repair manual says you should disconnect negative first, positive second. Reverse the order to connect.

Exactly. He did it wrong when disconnecting the old battery AND when he installed the new battery.

How can you trickle charge the battery on a 2017 Edge if you can't lift the hood? On my other car I could put an adapter on the charger and run it backword through the cigarette lighter.

No. Leave the car sit with everything off, let it go to sleep for at least 8 hours and it does it itself.

This placement with this battery would piss me off ...🤦‍♀️ I have had to jump my vehicle everyday for a bit.... I just bought a kill switch to put on tomorrow cause can't seem to find what's draining it.... even does it on my brand new battery..... n yes it is O.E.

hey mac t. just came across your channel. been having trouble with my 2011 ford edge. battery died from sitting. took it out and charged in on a charger/tender. and when I put everything back I dont get any lights on but I do get a clicking coming from the fuse box even without the key and it only stops if I disconnect the battery. any recommendations on what it could be? any help would be greatly appreciated. thank you
