The problem is smash and grab gang rush black gangs stealing $Tens or $Hundreds of Thousands of Dollars worth of merchandise in single events. When retail profit margins are already slim or non-existent due to online shopping, that is the death nail. The irony is that they then sell those stolen goods online.

Bayfair is the next Hilltop Mall in Richmond, California. At Hilltop all the department stores have closed except for Walmart. The rest of that mall is now closed, and the entrances are all boarded up. Once a thriving retail mall now dead. There was a rumor in the mill the Bayfair Macy's was going to close some two years ago. As a former Macy's employee, I heard the rumor circulating. Now it is happening.

Not surprised at all about this closure. People are looking at shopping in places where they won't have to be a eyewitness to the behaviors that come into the shopping centers. So, jobs and merchandise are going away. So sad.

Macy*s Bay Fair: my job when I was in college. Worked one Friday night, went clubbing with coworkers at end of the shift and drove from Denny’s back to work the next morning shift with no sleep but a lot of caffeine. Sad to see Macy*s leave Bay Fair.
