I love the serious and funny sides of Gintama. Neither could possibly be the same without the other. Only Gintama could be so random, silly, and hilarious and still have me crying later. There is no serious Gintama or funny Gintama. There is only Gintama. And it is one of the sweetest, most genuine things I have ever seen. Through aliens and samurai and who-the-heck-knows-what-else, Gintama brings out a special and very real dude of the human heart.

1.gintoki can beat any dbz charcter because he can break the fourth wall (and go super sayan without actually being one but nvm) 2.I am very impressed at how umbiased you are that's hard to do 3.gintoki is the second most complex charcter I have seen in anime or manga 4.dbz only wins cause gintoki is sad about not having a kamehameha like attack 5 dbz has figths? @zelzro not to mention the character design, one of the best I've ever seen. All the guys are gorgeous, the girls are pretty, amazing colours, great backgrounds with lots of details, good imagination with the various amanto races, also I personally appreciate the lack of chibi crap considering it's comedy. But it's kind of cool that it's not well known, wouldn't suit Gintama to be too popular or overhyped.

@MidnightEkaki Sorachi-sensei (manga-ka of Gintama) said that Gintoki is roughly based on an old Japanese folk hero named Kintarou, aka Kintoki Sakata. He apparently had super-human strength, but Gintoki isn't really meant to be a decendant of Kintarou. Basically, Gin-san IS Kintarou.
