@handa92334 ай бұрын
@@ariffapa9528 the only thing I don't like was they clowned Shinn too much and kinda treated him like Kira's loyal dog. I wished Shinn and Kira had some serious moment between them, as they shared a lot of history during SEED Destiny. I get that it falls into Shinn's characterization that he was originally like that before SEED Destiny, but it wouldn't hurt to give Shinn some serious moments regarding the conflicts over what happened, including his perspectives regarding the natures about war and how he would do about them, something he would decide for himself and not from other people's validations. thankfully him being an MVP at the end leaves a good after taste in my mouth so I would say it was still a very enjoyable experiences overall. other than that, I think what I liked the most was Kira showing more humanity in him and the potrayal that he can be imperfect, and had to rely on another to move forward. it really cleaned the bad after taste I had after watching SEED Destiny, where he boasted that genetic doesn't decide the future and that he was no different than anyone, but the potrayal made him feels like the contrary, where he got the preferial treatments and seemed that he can't do no wrong.

@@handa9233I think thats a fair assessment. Shinn's characterisation did feel a bit sacrificed for the sake of being comic relief. I still stand by SRW having the best version of him since he contemplates, doubts and has heart to heart moments with Kira and Athrun. Just maybe 1 or 2 scenes expanding more about his insecurities in proving himself to characters like Mu or Athrun or Kira himself. I think that'll be more impactful when he finally gained the confidence to stand up to the Black Knights. But glad we can finally see the Destiny and Shinn in full action and getting much deserved appreciation!

Gundam speed destiny tainted Shinn too much, causing Shinn to be greatly underestimated in terms of ability. Durandal, a geneticist, believes that Shinn is strong enough to confront Kira. Athrun also said that Shinn's potential is quite large in the novel and anime, Mu/Neo said Shinn's ability to go very far

I found, I watched, I enjoyed Those lines you in subtitles by the way, were they from the GSF novel version. I'm guessing that ,,It's okay Shinn. You can shoot them down" and that conversation about Shinn not being in Kiras and Athruns shadows were loud and clear conversations and not charachters just thinking to themselves? Am I right? Or were they fanmade?
@handa92334 ай бұрын
thank you! no they were not from GSF novel. I don't know how to explain, but I guess you could say its a somewhat fanmade but also not really a fanmade at the same time. I must say first that each lines has their specific conditions, situations, and backgrounds when I decided to put and arranged them in. I'll just put a few examples from it. 1st example: Meyrin telling Athrun to go rather than being killed. this one is a case where the line was taken from anime and got put in just the way it was, which mean when the line was said in this video, the context given is exactly the same like in the anime; Athrun got saved by Meyrin when he was deceived by Rey and Durandal, and was remembered in this video. one line for one context. 2nd example: Rey telling Shinn that he can shoot them down; "It's okay Shinn. You can shoot them down" this one is a case where the line was taken from the anime just the way it was, but got put in to the video for different context. the line was taken from when Shinn was about to launch in operation angel down to defeat the Freedom, and Rey reassured Shinn that he can take it down. but in this video, that line was said after the montage of the Black Knights layed waste to COMPS, and was arranged in a way that would imply the context that if Rey could say anything to Shinn, he would reassure Shinn and tell him that he can shoot the Black Knights down, and would still fall in line to Rey's character. one line for two different context. 3rd example: the conversation about Shinn not being in Kiras and Athruns shadows to explain this one, I need to break down each of the elements first. this conversation was arranged from 2 different conversations: > Athrun and Meyrin's drama CD conversation from Gundam SEED Destiny suit CD vol.9 long short story, Meyrin pointed out that Shinn has been making super ace level achievements recently, but Meyrin being her patronizing self towards Athrun, immediately made a claim that he is still no match to Athrun, which Athrun immediately denied by saying Shinn IS strong, and believe that he'll keep getting stronger, but wondering if its a good thing for him or not. Athrun having no doubt about Shinn's strength was what actually made him concerned about Shinn in the first place, because from Athrun's perspective Shinn reminded Athrun of his old self, and he didn't want Shinn to end up making the same mistake he did in the last war. Athrun is probably the one who understand and acknowledged Shinn's strength the most, even going so far that in Athrun's complain in the later drama CD, its specifically because Shinn being talented that he was very troublesome to deal with(which funnily enough that Shinn was dumbfounded when he hear that because Athrun managed to compliment him between all the complains right to his face). > Kira's line towards Shinn from the game Gundam Versus Rengou VS ZAFT II in this game, after completing a certain mission and raised Kira's relationship level, he would tell Shinn that "you are amazing, you are the same as me and Athrun... no, perhaps even beyond that (us)" while both of these lines have each of their own contexts, both were implying that they acknowledged and validated Shinn's strength despite what other people say about him. I arranged the lines as if Meyrin was talking about Shinn being inferior to both Athrun and Kira, which both of them would immediately deny and gave Shinn their validations instead to emphasis more on the message and making it sounds more powerful (the original conversation was just Meyrin and Athrun talking the same thing, but here I included Kira). so the formula of the arranged line is like this: [Athrun's denial towards Meyrin's claim+Athrun's validation towards Shinn's strength]+[Kira's validation towards Shinn's strength]= Athrun denying Meyrin's claim while validating Shinn's strength, and Kira supporting Athrun's claim on that. I believe this would still fall under their characterizations since in GSF novel, Kira was implied to be annoyed by Agnes badmouthing Shinn, her implying that Kira put Shinn in the defense line because he didn't trust him, which Kira immediately denies by making himself loud and clear that there is no doubt Kira trusted Shinn. on the other hand, when Erica said that the Destiny is probably not enough to counter the black knights, Athrun gave Shinn a smile instead, probably having no doubt and confident that Shinn would be able to defeat them with it despite what Erica said (and Athrun had actually denied Meyrin's claim as I explained above, and yes drama CDs are very high-likely canon). so if you asked if the conversation is fanmade or not, then I would say somewhat yes in a sense. but if you asked if the core messages were all lies and completely made up, then no. these core messages were already scattered around even if they weren't as loud and clear as I put them, But I re-arranged it in a way that would make them sounds more powerful. I would personally say the lines that I arranged weren't exactly right, but I wasn't completely wrong either. or if you asked if the lines were made up synthetically like using A.I and stuffs, then the answer is also no. the most I would do to is re-arrange the sylables, lines, or words that were already available and give them new meanings or contexts.

@@handa9233 Cool. So let me get something straight. During that later CD, Athrun and Shinn were arguing and Athrun said ,,You are , but you're still " which made Shinn confused for a moment, since Athrun admited he (S) has a great trait while still scolding him. Athrun wasn't just afraid of Shinn repeating his mistakes, but of going down the same mad path Patrick did after Elenore died. If you ask me, Athrun was likening Shinn to his (A) father after seeing him massacre those *ssholes on that island. In Athruns mind, Shinns reasoning was the same as Patricks stubborn use of BC genocidal malice to justify his own racistic madness. That is why he overreacted on Minerva. He was scared of Shinn becoming this unstoppable force of destruction and losing himself, and he gave in to that fear and tried drilling Shinn, but disregarded his (S) feelings and only ended up hurting Shinn more, not seeing how fragile he was. PS.: Waiting for the prequel to see how they reconciled. I've had many ideas.

@@branislavanenadovic3171 a bit different, Athrun wasn't complimenting Shinn being but still , but rather he was being annoyed that Shinn is undoubtedly strong that it was very troublesome for Athrun to deal with him. Athrun was complaining about Shinn, but that specific moment came across as surprising for Shinn because even though him being strong was a complain, Athrun still indirectly complimented his strength. And no, there was no implication that Athrun relate Shinn to his father, it was always Shinn and himself. Unlike Patrick Zala who hated naturals and actively seeks for their destruction, Athrun understand that Shinn never truly hated Orb and didn't want to fight them, that's probably why after Athrun returned to Orb in SEED Destiny, he never addressed Shinn's hatred towards Orb whenever they fight. It has been established that unlike Patrick who harboured deep hatred againts Natural, Shinn put Orb behind his life and wanting to have nothing to do with it anymore. Unfortunately for him, Orb keep dangling over his face in the course of the story, gave him troubles, and he had to fight againts them. Shinn always got annoyed whenever Orb is involved, even at the very end he was agonizing over the mission to lay waste on Orb, but can't go back for the sake of the world without war. Patrick on the other hand wanted to eradicate naturals. Athrun understands this and didn't want Shinn to make the same mistake HE did before, not Patrick's, as in, having their purposes to be completely decided by someone else(mission, order, etc.) Shinn is basically okay with Athrun after he saved him at the end of the war, but both of them are still awkward toward each other, which later in the drama CD omake quarters, everyone else made operation "getting along" for them and left Mu in charge. Mu asked them to lay bare everything they don't like at each other, and at the end Mu made a conclusion that Shinn doesn't like anything coming out of Athrun's mouth to his very whole existence(which baffled Athrun), while Athrun doesn't like Shinn having so many shortcomings. Mu pointed out that Athrun understands Shinn very well, while acknowledging what Shinn said as he could see where is Shinn coming from, much to the dismay to the both of them. Long short after that, Shinn genuinely thanked Athrun for stopping him, but Athrun being bad at communicating, almost bombed the conversation. Then Athrun started to badmouth Kira, and Shinn started to pick a fight over what Athrun said simply because he doesn't like him. They ended up getting into a fight and left. They reconciled and no longer awkward at each other. "they're not in a bad term, but they just will never be able to get along with each other". Thats basically how Fukuda sums up their relationship.

@@handa9233 That is a way bigger answear than I expected. I hear your opinions. We may get to hear their 1. reconciliatory talk after the Battle of Messiah in the upcoming prequel, that is rumored to be going on. If I understood correctly, Athrun admited Shinn is too strong which makes him troublesome to deal with if he goes off in a wrong way and he and Kira can't be sure they'd be able to stop him. The last time his instability was caused by his conflict over not wanting to fight but believing he has to for the world. If he went mad out of shear bloodlust, then there is no sure way to tell what could happen. A terrifying thought. I know Shinn is way better with dealing with his grief and anger than Patrick, but what happened in Indian Ocean happened too soon after Patricks loyalists, who lost their everything like Shinn lost his everything, did what they did. The incident made Athrun, who has, as you've rightfully said, been raised like a top tier soldiers and could hardly act and communicate like an ordinary person except with people that are close to him, got scared Shinn may end up like all the other radical coordinators (other than Aura) who got mad bacause of injustice and tragedy they were unable to forgive. He had no expirience with mentoring or understanding what is inside of peoples hearths and minds until it was laid bare before him completely, he acted out on fear Shinn becoming Gundams ,,Madara" or ,,Obito" and overeacted. He was to strict and bossy and hard to hear. He was saying the right things, but his inability to act and treat Shinn as a person and uderstand his feelings made him do it in a wrong way and only make things worse. The post-credits of the series and the movie showed he now knows he made mistakes, understands Shinn and cares about him like a little brother, but both of them are still to stubborn and proud to speak well of each other to each other. Like kids

@@branislavanenadovic3171 no I didn't meant it was something so serious such as Athrun and Kira can't be sure they'd be able to stop Shinn(not that I deny the possibility), simply that Athrun was annoyed and complaining that Shinn being too strong/talented made it more troublesome for Athrun to deal with him, as in its harder to put a person in their place when they actually put their money where their mouth were(he has the skills to back himself up) rather than dealing with people who were all just talk but no proofs(just boasting). the whole conversation was more of a comedic skit. I don't think your train of thoughts were illogical, but I do think you're reading it a bit too much, and I won't necessarily blame you for that. I can see where you were coming from when you made a connection between the events of break the world and indian ocean, and it would be understandable for Athrun if he did think that way, except what I'm getting at, is that it simply didn't happened the way you perceived it. there were no implications that Athrun was afraid that Shinn would ended up like his father, even if what you're saying make sense, what I meant was simply a matter of what actually happened. that sentiment, where Athrun was afraid that Shinn would end up like his father, while understandable, came from how you perceived the informations, and then projecting it on Athrun, but not how Athrun actually perceived it in the series. what I was trying to say is that Athrun didn't seem to relate Shinn to his father even if he could, and the only actual instances where he would relate Shinn to someone were when he would relate Shinn to himself. at the very least there were two instances in the actual series where it was implied that Athrun relates Shinn to himself. first is when Athrun accused Shinn for thinking about the regret of being powerless, made a comment about how "people who cried because of their lack of power would think the same thing, probably" and then remembering himself when he lectured Shinn. second is when Athrun was thinking that, more or less quoted; "Shinn and the other's desires to end the fight were probably stronger and more pure than anyone else, which is why I don't want them to make the same mistake as I did once in the past" in the drama CD. the emphasis were mostly about "I don't want him to ended up like me" rather than "like my father", to the extent that even in the manga Athrun outright told Shinn that he looked just like how Athrun was once to be. long short story is that, yes I do agree Athrun was afraid that Shinn is going to make the same mistakes someone did before, yes he did afraid it could happen due to them experiencing similar situations, but not by comparing it to his father and his loyalists and what they experienced, but by comparing it to himself and what he had experienced before. my point was only [yes he could], but doesn't seem that [he actually did], as simple as that. not because your train of thoughts were wrong, but simply because Athrun didn't seem to show any visible evidences that would imply that he did actually think so. he didn't ended up thinking like that because what his father had experienced, but rather because what he himself had experienced. or rather I would say Athrun and Shinn were the most understanding of the whole situations during the Junius drop, as you can see to how Shinn reacted to Cagalli's statements. he related to what the terrorists had experienced, but still did everything he could to stop the drop, and still aware that the people on earth wouldn't forgive them easily despite his efforts. the way I see it, Athrun was more afraid that Shinn's pure wishes to protect and end the war would led him into making mistakes(like Athrun did), rather than his deep hatred towards the others(like Patrick). what happened in the Indian Oceans felt like Shinn's trauma and desire to help the civilians ended up making him doing something irresponsible more than his hatred itself towards the Earth Forces(although it might be part of it).
