I really really loved this stick, but the damn tether just stopped working. I saw this problem coming a long time ago when I referred to the need for the tether as a "huge engineering fail". I heard the 'MAGIC-X Wireless Controller Adapter' was a workaround - as you would simply need to insert the USB into the joystick, rather than tethering a controller, but $80 later, that didnt work for me either. SAD :( #RIP

Mayflash makes and sells little USB nubs for their sticks that allow it to then work with PS4, Xbox One, Xbox 360, etc. Do you have any of them? I wonder if they would work on this? They ought to.

Yeah the Magicboots! I don't have one yet but will definitely pick one up soon, seems essential with all these companies releasing basically USB pass-through arcade sticks.

Personally this stick is fantastic, the buttons feel nice and it's nice and big. My only real issue is it not being natively compatible with consoles, although I would still say the positives outweigh the negatives
@SumeaBizarro2 жыл бұрын
I did not think it was such a huge deal before the need for authentication controller was said. The one thing madcatz was known was their native controllers for platforms. Even if it was just one at least the stick was completely native for xbox or playstation or whatnot. Nothing screams that they really just bought a rebrandable stick and rebranded it more than not even modifying the compatibility of the stick to be native rather than pass through.
@UncommonS3nse Жыл бұрын
can you try to check what PCB it's using? The compatibility seems to suggest it might be a Brook universal PCB, which makes this pretty great value when it's on sale ($120 aud)

Does the SF5 Tes 2 Madcatz sticks also have this universal PCB" thing that you mention.? I'm in the market for a secondary stick so I can take both of them to have sessions with the new PS4 capcom collection that released wit my boys. I also am hoping to have connectivity with PS 3, 4, 5 - PC , Rpi . My TES2 does that currently

I am checking one for Christmas for my brother. I have the Hori Pro.N hayabusa and i love it but now it is pretty expensive here. For now i have on my sights the Hori alpha for ps5 at $200 and the qanba crystal at the same price. For PC, which one do you recommend?

Mad Catz should've just used their old stick design and just update it. It would've been cheaper than going ahead and buying another stick design. If they're really cheap about it, then they don't need to have brand name stock parts and just use Chinese clones as they are now owned by some Chinese company.
@MakeYourOwnFun2 жыл бұрын
Yeah it’s an interesting choice they made here. Leaning on the Sanwa brand instead of innovating with something new on the market.

How strong is the plexi holding all the buttons and the stick? It looks like it's the weakest point of this stick.
@MakeYourOwnFun2 жыл бұрын
I guess it’s not the thickest layer I’ve ever seen, but it is supported by the top of the case itself so I think it’s more just to protect the artwork underneath.

having a lot of trouble completely disassembling the stick to simply just replace the panel art. "easily hot swappable" my ass. this is my first stick and i really don't know what i need to do to remove the buttons from the wires/pad. i looked it up and i keep getting videos of people simply removing the wires that go into the switches by just wiggling them. unlike with this stick where there's the extra plastic end of the button that cover the rest of the wire if you open the back panel. it's impossible to remove as far as i've tried. anyway you could possible make an video where you replace the panel step by step? as far as i know none exist on the internet and i would be very very grateful. amazing video, glad to know i wasn't the only one with an EGO who found the caped buttons around the glass an interesting design choice. if not an extremely annoying one.
@MakeYourOwnFun2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! Yeah it’s weird how they expect you to know how to take apart and mod arcade sticks and don’t provide instructions, even if they already say it voids the warranty. I’m definitely going to mod this stick, just have to find the time too and also get some new buttons and a ball top in. Given that it’s a current stick on the market though I’ll try and prioritise it before doing other mods.
@dbnpoldermans41202 жыл бұрын
Where are you supposed to put the controller? Why not design it so that you can put the controller inside of the joystick Mad Catz also came from nothing. They made the worst periherals for the first 20 years I remember when I openened one of the playstation racing wheels and it had an elastic band in it that you would typically find in something like jogging pants. total junk.
@MakeYourOwnFun2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, “universal” arcade sticks that require another controller are a really annoying choice some companies have been making recently. Mad Catz definitely has an up and down reputation over its lifespan. I guess it’s all up to the owners at the time.
